Mood board for February

page

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).
The mood board of the month is going live on the last Monday of that month!

So first thing I have to say is that I am 18! My birthday was on 18th of February and you can read a bit about it in my previous post here.

I developed a habit to talk about my makeup look of the month in every mood board for the past few months, so I am going to tell you again. I got a new highlighter and have been loving it, so that with a shimmer pink eye-shadow and eyeliner is pretty much all I do.

Lip colours I usually use are either dark purple/burgundy or like nude mac lipsticks. No in between really, especially in winter and fall.

I miss having that urge to dance all the time that I have lost in my depression period, a few years ago.

I love flowers and bouquets, roses mostly. And I got a few of them for my birthday 🙂 !

Since I have been seeing the fishnet trend everywhere lately, I also decided to get me some. I hope you will get an Outfit Inspiration post this spring with this trend.

Cereal has been more common in my diet this month, and that made me remember how much I actually miss eating cereal since I went through a phase of not eating it for a great while.

I really want to do some portrait photography with a real camera and all. I hope that this particular wish will come true soon.

In general

Saturday morning. 7 AM. Great storm and rain everywhere. Just as it was on that same date 18 years ago when I was born. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

The weather made a full circle in those 18 years to welcome me to something that is legally looked at as adulthood. Even though I woke up feeling just as I do every morning, tired and sleepy 😉 , nature made it best effort to remind me of this event that happens only once in your lifetime, oppose to 40th birthday which you can have multiple times 😀 !

I was blessed to be born in an amazing family that spoils me to death with both, attention and presents. I am blessed to have made wonderful friends along the way who are my strength and ultimate support. And last, but certainly not the least, I was too blessed by meeting my partner in life and crime this young and to have that kind of love this early.

No matter the circumstances that made my life hard and at some times unbearably painful I am grateful for and I appreciate everything that happened to me because those things have brought me to this moment. They brought me these people in my life and prepared me for everything that will happen next.

In past few years I have grown so much as a person. I became brave enough to live my true self and met my partner who helped me to make ease with my appearance and finally like the way I look. I earned my confidence, I learned to love and to be loved. I got calmer, my anxiety attacks are not so common anymore. I am funnier, and I have no idea how that happened.  I changed my style to meet how I am feeling inside. A lot more happened, a lot more growth, a lot more happiness.

I guess that you learn how to be happy and how to feel the happiness surrounding you as the years go by. You learn to appreciate everything that has happen and not to fear the things that are going to happen. I don’t have a magic recipe, no one does. But I know one thing, with the right people everything is easier.

This post is a thank you to all those people who make my life easier, better, funnier, prettier. To the people who have brought me back the childlike will to live and to explore all the things this life has to offer, to be happy for what is going to happen and for what has already happened. Thank you from the bottom of my small heart, I love you!

January Favorites

img_3532

Hello, new year, new feature here on my blog. This is my first favourites post and I hope you will like it enough for me to post a February one. I know I am a bit late, this usually goes up the first few days of the month, but last week and a half I was crazy busy!

Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer – This is a budget friendly concealer from a drugstore that is also so good that I am on my 4 tube I think. It is long-lasting since it’s waterproof and give such an amazing coverage. I had a lot of Borjuois concealers and this one is just as good, but a lot cheaper! I am in shade 02, and sadly this is the darkest shade and I am very fair so I can use both the 02 one and 01.

NYX Lid Lingerie – This is probably the best makeup item I have ever purchased. I love the formula of this, it goes on so smoothly and stays all day. Mixing with other shades is also very good, but on its own it also looks beautiful with the shimmer it has. I have it in the shade Rose Pearl and it is my go to eye makeup look, especially when I am running late. I just put it on, some mascara and done!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation– New foundation in 2017. Actually I am on the hunt for the perfect new foundation and this one was the first on my hunt! It is better than my old Bell one, but still not the perfect match for me. It gives great coverage, but you do not feel it on your face. For me it is not so long-lasting it should be and I even use a compact powder over it. If you do not like scents in your makeup stay free from this one, if you are okay with that than you should try it for yourself if you have normal/dry skin. For us with oily skin it isn’t what we are looking for, but still a good foundation.

Maybelline the Colossal Go Extreme! Mascara – Well, I got this mascara for Christmas as a present and have been using it ever since. It is my new favourite mascara, so similar to the Rocket Volume Mascara from Maybelline which I loved so much when it came out! It darkness my lashes and gives it great volume and lengths. Perfect!

Seventeen Clear Skin Tea Tree Oil Cream – I got this while I was in Greece, because I forgot to bring my cream with me on the travel. Just stumbled upon a small drugstore and saw the label and words clear skin and bought it. I used it there and forgot about it when I came home. So, how I started using it? Well, I got a case of post-holiday acne and used this just to try it again and I saw the results over just one night. After 3 days of using it once a day my acne cleared up completely. Amazing cream, it is a moisturizer and it balances your skin and it was pretty inexpensive if I remember correctly.

Maybelline Affinitone Foundation – Thanks to the cream my skin has become so amazing that I didn’t need a full coverage foundation on those easy days when I am not wearing makeup for most of the day. On those days I have been using this foundation from Maybelline and it feels so amazing on my skin, it stays for 5/6 hours without touching up or even putting on a compact powder. It is so light and it covers just enough.

Catrice Eyeliner Pen – I am impressed with the brand Catrice, so impressed that on the advise of my friend I got their eyeliner pen to try it out. And it is so amazing, easy to use and long-lasting, it stand all crying and cry-laughing I do. In January I did a lot of cat eyeliner and with this it is so easy to do it, I haven’t ever done a flick so easily.

Givenchy Electric Rose – This is a limited edition perfume that through years has become my signature perfume. The first time I finished the bottle I figured that I would have a hard way of finding another one, and that was true. Untill I found one in an airport tax-free fragrance store and I was thrilled.  It passed 4 months and I almost finished this one. I am not going to try to explain the fragrance, but you can read my review about it here!

Syoss Anti-Grease Dry Shampoo– This has been my saviour more than once, since my hair pretty much become greasy after one day. For me it is a better product than Batiste one’s but I don’t quit like the scent it has, but a little perfume in my hair after brushing this out fixes everything!

Deborah Lipstick – I have already talked about this product before. One of the things I mentioned is that it s pretty much the only shade of red I can possibly bear to wear on my lips. This is Deborah lipstick from their line of Red lipsticks, and it is in number 3. It has a nice shimmer that is barely visible and it looks amazing!

MAC lipstick – Also already raved about this one in my MAC Mini Collection. This is Sophisto and it also has a shimmer in it, but it is a rich burgundy colour which goes with most of my clothing. And have I mentioned I love burgundy a bit too much?

That would be all for January favourites! I hope you liked it and that you want to see February Favourites in half a month, be sure to comment your favourite products from beginning of this year as well.

Guest post: Equality

Hi! Let me introduce myself! I am Annie. I’m a 21-year-old psychology student. It’s a pleasure to publish my writing on Magdalena’s blog.
You might think I’m just a girl who lives in her lice little world doing her makeup and suff as mainly that’s what I write about on my blog.
However, I’m not ignorant towards the problems out world faces everyday. As much as I enjoy talking about my favourite eyeshadow palette, I believe we should never keep quiet about issues like inequality.
I hope you’ll enjoy this little piece that I wrote and I’m sure more of this kind of writing will be featured on my blog page.

As a straight white woman I can say that I’m privileged. I’ve never been bullied, I’ve always had everything I needed to live a stable life. However I come across discrimination on a daily basis. Just like everyone else in the world. The problem is that most of the people just ignore it when they aren’t the ones the discrimination is towards. Just imagine this situation: you’re just chilling with your friends and one of them says a homophobic/racist/ anti-female comment, everyone laughs at it.You know deep down that what they’re saying is not great, but will you do anything about it? Will you take the time and effort to try to convince them that what they’re saying is horrible? Probably not.Because it’s easier to avoid conflict. It’s easier to accept that that’s just the way they are. I was like that all my life, so I’m not judging you. But a few months ago I decided that I’m gonna stand up for myself in any situation that violates the values I represent. Even if it means that your friends look at you in a weird way and don’t understand why are you being “so dramatic”.

768cbc7fde31d46f04cfc8b45c98498d

The truth is a lot of people don’t even think about others and what they are going through. They’re just living their fucking privileged lives making comments about people based on their skin, sexuality, religion. But does these things really matter? I just literally don’t understand. Just WHY do people have to be such assholes? I could cry every time I think about what some people experience everyday.I believe it’s hard enough for them to realise that they’re different from most of the people without being made fun of and being called in disgusting names.

Last year’s election had a bigger impact on me than I’d thought it would. If you voted for Trump I can’t understand you, I just can’t. It’s not about being uninformed. It’s not about your political views. It’s about choosing to be ignorant about discrimination. It’s about choosing a racist, homophobic, anti-female person to be in the most powerful position in America. I’m not angry with Americans, I’m just disappointed in humanity. I’m not American, one of my distant relatives lives there, but I don’t have direct contact with America. Although, I still cried for days after the election. Then I realized it’s not the way to deal with it. You have to find faith in humanity again and believe that with an open heart and with kindness YOU can make a change. Even if it just means trying to convince someone racist/homophobic/etc. in your surroundings that what they’re thinking is not okay. Start tomorrow, make YOUR voice heard, stand up for yourself and for EVERYONE who’s being oppressed!

Thank you all for reading Annie’s post and thank you Annie for doing this with me! Go and check out her blog and be nice enough to follow her and leave some comments. Here is a link to her blog where you will soon find my post on equality!

Mood board for January

page.jpg

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).

New year, new beginning, new changes!

First of all, new schedule! Now I am posting every Monday ( or at least trying to post every Monday)!

On winter break I got hooked on this new TV series Conviction! It is soooo good!

When we are on the subject of TV series I have to mention one of my new favourite shows Quantico and its leading lady Priyanka Chopra.

This winter I got into wearing beanies and scarves! Got a new beanie for Christmas from someone special and I have been wearing it everywhere. Just take a look at my instagram, you’ll see.

I don’t think I ever told you that I cannot possibly sleep with my socks on, not even in the coldest winter days.

I sometimes forget how much I actually know about egyptian mythology.

I noticed that I buy too much shirts with written stuff on it. And I am not mad about it!

Since I am in a look for the perfect prom dress I decided to keep up with this Award season watching the red carpet presented by E! .

Feelings

A lot of people run away from their own feelings, including myself and maybe you – the person reading this. Running away can be detected in various ways. You can pretend what you are feeling isn’t real. Also, you can refuse to fathom your feelings, to split it to their essence. Of course you can always literally run away from your feelings. You can “block” yourself from feeling something, or better said, you can block yourself from showing those feelings.

It’s a shitty world, I know. Everyone wants to protect themself from getting emotionally hurt. But think about it, if you do this things to prevent yourself from getting hurt, feeling hurt, pain, sadness, unhappiness etc. you are also limiting the amount of great feelings that make our life worth living.

Tears are not just from sadness, are they? Laughing or smiling isn’t always a showcase of a happy emotion. Pain isn’t necessarily bad. Forget now for jus a second what you learned about positive and negative emotions and feelings. Life is about finding exceptions to the rules. No one should go through life looking it in black and white, defining something as purely good or purely bad without any mix between those contrasted emotions. So dare to feel.

I think this is enough said about this topic, and I hope I left you wanting to think about what I said here. If you want to add something or even tell me I am wrong, I welcome you to do so in the comments bellow.
Thank you for reading!

What’s in my bag? / Bag essentials

img_3082

img_3079

So this is the lovely Nohaa bag I talked about in my last Outfit Inspiration post! I love it so much because it burgundy and it is very spacious, you can see from the photos all of the things that I can fit in it. This is the biggest handbag I own so I really use up all the space it offers. Today I am going to talk about my bag essentials through a What’s in my bag post! I will start from left to right describing the things on the photo.

Wallet, money and cards.
This Guess wallet has been my best friend for almost a year. I got it whilst I was in Venice and it has already been featured in so many posts. It is black and leather, a timeless combination. I know that if you carry a handbag you do not really need a big wallet inside but I like to do that nonetheless and this bag offers me the possibility to do that!

Mascara
You never know what can happen to ruin your makeup so I always like to put some makeup in my bag. This is my new favourite mascara from Maybelline. It is The Colossal Go Extreme! Leather Black mascara. I am not going to describe it any more since I plan to do a full review soon.

Lip balm
It is my favourite Baby Lips Electro in Berry Bomb from Maybelline. I like to keep this in my bag because my lips can get dry and I like to put it over any lipstick I already have on to make it a bit glossy and more durable.

Lipstick
You always need to reapply your lipstick so I also keep my favourite lips of the season in the bag aswell as m lip balm. Sometimes I just put the lipbalm over the lipstick to make my lips look better but sometimes I need to reapply the lipstick first. Girly problems 😀 Right now my favourite lipstick is Maybelline’s COLORsensational in 342 Mauve Mania. It’s a darker pink, perfect for everyday and occasion.

Mirror
For reapplying your makeup or just taking a look at what a mess you are, you are going to need a little pocket mirror. This was a souvenir from my aunt, she got it for me from Rovinj. I like the little design on it and the fact that it has a regular and magnifying mirror.

Compact powder
I have oily skin and after some time my face is so shiny that I don’t even know how people can look at me as I am shining like a Christmas bulb. That is the reason why I keep this compact powder from Catrice in my handbag. It is the All Matt shine control powder in 015 Natural Beige!

Hair ties and bobby pins
I like to have my hair up when I am at home because my hair irritates me often. So when I am going out I always throw some hair ties and bobby pins if I ever decide to pull my hair up if it just gets too much for me to handle.

Planner
This is the year I decided to be a little more organized and to keep my planner by my side at every time. This is the most famous Croatian planner that comes in a few different looks. It is called zenskirokovnik (translated to womensplanner) on instagram so you can check their page out!

Earphones
Music is an important part of my life and my earphones are a necessity. It helps me get somewhere faster and get through my anxiety attacks so I always keep them near. These are the original Iphone earphones from Apple in their packaging.

Pen
There are just somethings that you always need to keep with you so I always carry a pen, nonetheless if I have my planner or not. That way if you are in a coffee shop and want to do some crosswords you do not need to ask the cute waiter/waitress for a pen. This one was a Christmas present and it is a Gorjuss pen.

Gum
Also a necessity that I think you always need to carry with you. This pack is great because it is a mini Airwaves pack that is so cute and so perfect for a handbag, it has 4 gums instead of 8 which I think is enough.

So this is it for my bag essentials. I hope you enjoyed reading this and that you find at least a bit useful or amusing.

My Fav’ – Outfit Inspiration

img_2777-1

img_2783-1

img_2787-1

img_2788-1

Jacket: Zara Trafaluc Outerwear
Jeans: Zara Woman
Necklace: Bershka
Shirt: Bershka
Boots: Schuh
Bag: Nohaa

As promised here is the second Outfit Inspiration this post, a week after the last one. Also I ‘promised’ you photos of lesser quality than usual since the camera kind of tricked me, but it is still visible enough when edited. Enjoy in this post nonetheless!

This outfit is really one of my favourite ones yet. It is kind of grunge but romantic grunge, at least that is how I perceive it. It has the smallest amount of black I ever wore and it still looks dark enough that I do not feel weird wearing COLOURS  😮 .

First we will start with this awesome and simple shirt/sweater from Bershka I just bought a couple of weeks ago. What is striking is its colour, never owned anything like it. With what my vocabulary allows me, the best I can do to describe it is to say it is a salmon pink colour. On it is written My Fav’ Sweat which I found adorable. It is warm and pretty, a good catch for winter.

Finally, I found chokers I like. These two are also from Bershka and they were in a set of five chokers total. I love it layered like this because it adds the grunge effect I talked about in the beginning and it makes this OOTD look like I spent a lot of time deciding what to wear when in fact it is just the opposite. It is probably worth mentioning I got them as a Christmas gift from my Fav’ person. You get the tittle know ?

In the spirit of new things let’s talk about my new jacket. It is from Zara and it is perfect! I didn’t own any really warm jackets before this one, so when it got too cold for my coat I ran to Split to buy one. This babe is so warm, in it has some faux fur and it has a filling. Also something that is so useful, the material outside is waterproof so rain just slides off. Great investment.

Also my jeans are from Zara. A perfect colour and the perfect fit. Already mentioned in previous posts so I am not going to go in details again. These boots from Schuh have been mentioned in previous posts as well, so all I am saying they are in perfect condition after almost 2 year since its real leather.

And now about the new addition to my accessories collection. This beautiful bag was also a gift from Christmas from one of the designers herself. Nohaa is a Croatian brand you all should check out, they have awesome stuff! They have an instagram and Facebook page, I am not sure but I think they do international deliveries aswell. Not an ad, even though I am not so biased since I actually know the duo that create them. The bag is burgundy and you get two leather tassels that you can put on both sides of the bag but I opted for only one!

For more day-to-day looks, makeup and other be sure to follow me on my two instagrams (links on the right side and/or under this). Also for previews of my posts and notices about when something is out! Thank you for reading, I’ll see you in my next post and I for sure hope you are going to be there again!!

Baby it’s cold outside – Outfit Inspiration

Jeans: Topshop moto
Shirt: Pull & Bear
Shoes: Puma Suede Platforms

2017 is here! Even though this has been shot about a month ago it is the first post of the year. I thought it was appropriate to begin with an Outfit Inspiration post since I haven’t posted one for the winter season. If you want to check other Outfit Inspirations posts click here!

This Outfit Inspiration is about an edgy way to stay warm in those cold winter months. It is a bit sporty but kind of elevated to look smarter. The show of the OOTD is this military green hoodie from Pull & Bear. I got it whilst I was in Zagreb and let me tell you one thing this is the warmest and the comfiest shirt ever. It is like wearing a blanket! It keeps you warm no matter what and because it is baggy you can wear it over a shirt and go out without an outerwear. What I like about it the most is that it’s distressed and ripped up a bit and on the hood it says Hold on to me.

Next are my beloved Topshop moto jeans that look like leather but are cotton. Probably the best purchase I ever made. Oh, those London days, please bring me back to London! This jeans look great with everything and they are so expensive looking (they weren’t cheap either :’) ),  and I wish I can get another pair like these babes. If you have seen something similar please tell me!

And lastly the pair of shoes I have wanted since their came out! Red suede platforms from Puma are probably my ideal shoes ever. Considering how tiny and short I am these platforms are made for me! I haven’t got any red shoes so the colour also perfect. I cannot even tell you how much I actually love these shoes. Just know that when I saw them in a window from a shop in Zagreb I screamed a little and almost started crying. That’s how much I am obsessed!!!

So this is it! A quick and short first post, but I hope you like it. I already have prepared a new Outfit Inspiration post for next week, the photos turned out a bit blurry so when you see it pretend you didn’t! A preview of the outfit you can se on my instagram (a pic on my blog instagram, and a snap on my personal instagram!) links are on the side and just below this!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

2016!

I know this year has been particularly bad when it comes to the whole world, but I think every single person here can state at least a few little things that happened in their lives that they would like to remember as years pass by.

Here is a list my favourite things from 2016 (not in any order) :

  • I got a belly button piercing.

  • I had a great summer with a lot of going out nights.

  • I went to Zagreb to see Justin Bieber on his Purpose tour.

  • I lost about 5 kg.

  • I began wearing my hair down.

  • I celebrated a one year anniversary.

  • I traveled to more than 5 countries.

  • I am finally wearing beanies and chokers.

  • I went to so many beautiful and great restaurants.

  • I got too drunk for the first time and last!

  • I really stepped up my photography and instagram game.

  • I stopped thinking badly about my body and went to a beach after 2 years of not going.

  • I started dressing into clothing that actually shows and compliments my body. (getting more confident)

Now tell me one thing that it most memorable for you. In the comments! Quick  🙂

Mood board for December

page.jpg

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).

Coffee, tea and soup in a mug are my favourite friends this winter!

I am one of those people who do not mind wearing a bra, I kind of like it even. I am not that person who cannot wait to get home to take the bra off. Is that weird?

Only thing I know for sure about my prom dress is that is going to be burgundy, and it might have a bare back but will see.

I love knee-high socks for winter. Simple but stylish.

I miss visiting galleries so much. There is just something so comforting for me when looking at paintings.

My go to makeup this months is, sparkly rose gold and brown eyes with a darker lip.

Keeping my hair in a messy ponytail at home has become a new ritual.

I got a lot of new stuff for Christmas, including three new beautiful bags.

Mini MAC collection/haul

This will be just a short post about MAC lipsticks I own! Not really going into a detail review, but rather just some necessary information.

  1. Rich & Restless – it’s a retro matte liquid lipcolour that is really intensely pigmented and it kind of looks like orange and pink when it’s on. It is not a shade for everyone, but the consistency and lasting of this matt liquid lipstick is amazing. It is not drying and it stays forever, but however there is no way you can put any other product over it because it smudges into a weird-looking thing. If you are not too fond of using more than one lipstick and layering, I definitely recommend you to try these matte lipcolours.

  2. Viva Glam II – the first thing I got from MAC is this beautiful shade. What is really amazing about it not just looking at the not traditional packaging but the red and black combo you can see,  is that every cent from the Viva Glam lipsticks goes to MAC’s AIDS Found. Definitely a perfect nude colour that is not as pinkish as the Velvet Teddy, but still looks great on. This is a satin lipstick which means it is semi-matte, so definitely a perfect starter lipstick!

  3. Velvet Teddy – a shade everyone is crazy about, for a good reason. It is matte and not drying and it doesn’t look that matte because the formula is great, so nourishing and rich. Perfect soft pink colour that goes with every make up look, and looks amazing on all skin tones. Grab it the next time you go to MAC, especially since it is usually sold out.

  4. Sophisto – probably my favourite one. The lustre formula (semi-gloss finish) looks great on. It is shiny and a bit glittery with a hint of purple. If you are beginning to wear purple lipstick this is the one you should start with if you want to go gradually since it’s kind of clear, meaning that it resembles a bit more pigmented purple lip balm (for example Maybelline’s Baby Lips in Electro).

Why I love Christmas?/ Christmas series 2016

In my last year’s Christmas with Small Town Blogger I expressed my love for Christmas, but never really explained why do I actually love Christmas. So, for the first post in my this year’s series I will try to explain exactly that!

So my story starts two Christmases ago. A dark time in my life. The time I did talk about before. If you have been with me since the beginning you would know that I have anxiety for many years now. And also that I suffered from depression previously, 2/3 years ago.

As a child everyone loves Christmas, whether it is for the Santa, gifts or family time. But later the whole magic of Christmas bursts like a bubble and now all of sudden you treat Christmas like any other day. But I kind came to my senses properly because I was depressed. Let me explain it further and you might understand what I mean.

While I was depressed of course I try to hide it away from my family and friends. (Not a good decision by any means but it is what I did.) So, I was empty inside for the longest time and to keep any will to live I began to obsess with Christmas. I was all in with the decorations, gifts, the Christmas spirit. And at one point it actually started making me kind of happy, as happy as a person with depression can be, obviously.

I blame it on Christmas magic. So in that honour I still go all in every year after that one. And I will for as long as I keep that memory, keep in mind I do not forget easily. My Christmas tradition came from  one of the darkest parts of my life and for me to make it into something good took a lot of strength. And yeah, that is my reason. Do you have yours?

Mood Board for November

page.jpg

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).

Cannot wait to get a rose tattooed. Probably the same place on the photo! Very soon (if you consider 2 and a half months soon).

Finally the fall colours set in my hometown.

Thinking about my prom dress. Right now I think I will have an open back and a burgundy dress, but I will keep you updated.

Just started to wear my coat daily. It has just gotten that cold here!

This month I found out that I make a killer Oreo frappe/milkshake (photos on my insta!)

Would some of you be interested in seeing my mini MAC collection? I have maybe 4 products but still.

I am planning maybe doing Christmas with Small Town Blogger this year again, but only have maybe 2 ideas. Any suggestions?

I got some interesting wardrobe pieces while I was in Zagreb. I might do a winter lookbook or at least one or more outfit inspirations!

Decorating for Christmas this weekend. I know to most of you it is too soon, but to me (and my other Christmas enthusiast) it is too late!

Scary future

I am at a place in my life where I have to decide what I want to be. The deadline for that decision is coming so soon that I can feel it even and I still do not know what to sign up for.

It is so scary having to decide your future through just one thing. It is so scary having to decide it while you are not even 18. It is so scary to decide what will you do for the rest of your life.

For the longest time I have known I want to be a forensic anthropologist and that I wanted to study for that abroad in UK. But I crossed UK as a country of my future education at some point of last year. I am not 100% sure why. It is probably a mix of things. A mix of feeling unwanted and unimportant due to the new law they brought, finding and building relationships I cannot bear to break with the distance, finding happiness in the form I never thought I could. Life happened and I moved on. I still want the same job but to get it here is a different story, so I began with a blank slate keeping my dream somewhere close where I can always reach for it.

I have grown, I know that. I have learned so much this past year and I am happy where I am at. And now my next move is what? Something that is going to keep making me happy and that is going to allow me keeping the things and people, I cherish the most in my life, by my side.

So what is exactly that move, you are asking me? Well, you’ll find out as soon as I do.
I am optimistic and hopeful, so I would like to pass that onto you, everyone who is reading this.

Zagreb

My trip to Zagreb of course resulted in some great photos, these are the few of them I liked to most!

Cliff

There is a cliff. One that I walk by everyday. It is so near where I live and I usually go pass by it with my little dog right beside me.

There is a cliff. One that is very high. It gives a spectacular view on the sea that I learned to cherish as a child.

There is that cliff. One that always stood there, since I remember. It didn’t change but I did.

There is that one cliff. That one which, when I walk by it, shows me how well I deal with my life.

You see on some days I childishly admire the view and on others I admire the fall.

Mood board for October

page.jpg

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).

Obsessed with the pale baby pink colour for this fall. Really want a jacket in that colour, maybe my shopping in Zagreb will result in me having one!

Currently in a process of learning how to cook!

Miss going to museums, but I might visit a few when I go to Zagreb next week. If you are in Zagreb for the first time, you should visit the Museum of illusions and of course the famous Museum of broken relationships. PS: If you are there on the 10th we might bump into each other.

In an unending search for a good chocker. I don’t really understand how I haven’t found one yet.

Like a kid I always have to step on the fall leaves to hear that satisfying crunching sound.

My makeup this month has pretty much been the simplest it can, a little of nude eyeshadow with a black eyeliner and nude or pink lipstick.

Cannot wait to get into a nice lush bath as soon as my piercing heals.

I am kind of obsessed with loose button-ups with cute patterns all over. Those are the only button-ups I own.

Fall is here – Outfit Inspiration

img_1134

Jeans: Zara Woman
Jacket: Zara Basic
Shirt: Tally Weijl
Watch: Esprit
Boots: Schuh

I haven’t done one of these posts for a long time. But since it is my favourite season I decided to get on it and show you my outfits for Fall (at least I hope there would be more Outfit Inspiration posts this fall). You can see other outfit inspirations here! Now something more on the items shown up!

First lets start with these jeans! They are fairly new, I got them maybe a month ago. They are lightly washed, just the right amount. To me wearing denim jeans is something new, since I only wore black jeans exclusively for 2 or 3 years, or in som rare occasions really dark jeans that seem black. I got this pair to refresh my wardrobe and now I am not getting out of them!

This jacket is really special because it is a leather jacket made to look really fancy since it has a peplum part on the end. It could be worn with anything from a dress to a pair of sweatpants so it is a perfect must-have piece. I bought it in Rome a year ago in Zara, so you have more about it in my Italian haul post!

This shirt from Tally Weijl is also a new piece. It is a really pretty faded light purple colour with 3/4 sleeves and a little bit shorter fit which I like because it is not cropped too much that I cannot wear it to school.

My Esprit watch is my go to accessory when I need something simple to class the outfit up a bit. It is silver with little tiny crystals all around. Also I am wearing a necklace with my Hard Rock pendant that I got as a gift from someone very special and that has been a piece of jewelry I am wearing non stop for over a month.

And for the last piece my beautiful boots. If you do not know I am too obsessed with boots so I have so many pairs from which I cannot really choose a favourite one. These babes are from Schuh, an UK brand. I got them two years ago and they still run like new. Leather and italian made – perfection. More on them in my London Haul!

That would be all from me today! If you want to check more of my day-to-day outfits and makeup looks be sure to follow me on my two instagram’s which you have on the right of your screen (or at the bottom if you are not using desktop version).

Funny little feeling

There is this funny little feeling creeping inside of everyone’s mind. Sooner or later we all get a chance to experience it first handedly. Is it a curse or a gift? Can it even be called anything else but a feeling?

Jealousy. Strong. Cruel. Unnecessary?

There are a few types of jealousy, but today let’s talk about relationships.

Jealousy. A show of caring and love, not wanting to loose someone. Or simply our own insecurities and fears of being replaced and not being good enough? Probably a mix of both, but then why is it so deadly? Why does it make us do things we never thought we would do before? It really does bring the worst in us. Being overly protective, suspicious, angry, untrusting; sometimes to the point of aggression (it may be just passive-aggressive acts, but still). It is crazy to think from what emotions has this feeling been created; anger, sadness, disgust. And yet we associate it with love. Funny little feeling indeed!

Fall and outer layers.

fall

For all my life fall was my favourite season and there is so many reason to why is that so. Hot chocolate and tea, sweaters and boots, fall colours and falling leaves, travelling and etc.

Maybe it will interest you why do I match certain things only to fall, maybe you just want to read another one of my stupid (or not so stupid)  short writing posts, or maybe you are just so bored and you want to read something new. But, nonetheless, just keep reading – I cannot promise you a fun time but I sure hope you will have it.

I know that through all literature fall is usually a metaphor for old age or even death, but to me fall kind of represents love in it purest stage.

To me love feels comfortable like lying under the warmest blanket and drinking some hot chocolate whilst the rain is pouring down outside your window. Love is warm like your favourite knit-sweater (that is so well-worn that three generations fo our family have worn it, I am not kidding). Love is pretty like all the shades of red, orange and brown you see all around yourself. Love is unique and special like that one evergreen tree you pass by every day. Love is satisfying like the sound of the leaves rustling and crackling under your feet. Love is familiar.

So my endless love for fall can be ironically explained through my own metaphor I just represented to you. But enough about me, what is you favourite season and what it represents to you? If you want you can just answer down below or even in a post (I would like to read it if you decide to do it in this form)!

Happy Fall everyone! Let’s begin wearing our favourite clothes and as many outer layers as we can 🙂 .

Mood board for September

page

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).

This month was full of travelling and in November I am travelling to Zagreb two times!

Also this month I bought a lot of new clothes, to change-up my black white and grey combination!

I am really into turtlenecks and long overalls this fall!

Excited for my prom dress that I am slowly starting to design in my head (already)!

In my shopping spree I also bought new pair of jeans that are slightly a washed out. Look forward on seeing them in my future Outfit Inspirations!

Really, really excited and cannot wait for October’s leaf falling and of course Halloween.

I do not know if I ever told you this but no matter how much I expand my book shelf it is always to small. So I have my books there, on all of my wardrobes, above my bed, on the floor even etc. I have too many books!

What I learned: Travel edition

In past two years I have visited couple of countries with totally different cultured than mine. So I thought it would be funny and/or interesting to share some things I learned about that country by visiting it.
Disclaimer: if I am talking about your country or a country you have been to, please have in mind this is just my experience in the short amount of time I spent it there. No hard feelings!!

Vatican City is probably the cleanest city in the whole world.

In  Albanian bus stops there are no soap or mirrors in the bathrooms.

Athens is really dirty and full of not-so-artistic graffiti on every corner.

In Zakhyntos (Greece) you actually have to pay extra to have wi-fi in the hotel which is kind of absurd since you are paying the actual stay in the hotel which should include your personal right to the internet!!

In Greece people drive like crazy and in some towns like Laganas, Zakhyntos there are no zebra crossings.

Ohrid (Republic of Macedonia) has ridiculously low prices of alcohol and cigarettes and pretty much everything you can find.

In Naples (Italy) most of the restaurants are closed from 15:00 to 17:00 or something stupid like that. And also what I should probably outline is that one of the first things you see on your drive to and through the city are big piles of trash.

Rome is pretty much all churches, fountains and obelisks. Nonetheless a spectacular city and culture worth seeing. Also shopping streets are amazing!

There isn’t a big line in Starbucks in Athens, not even in the centre where all the tourists are which really surprised me since my previous experience with Starbucks was in London and there is a necessity to wait at least 5-10 minutes just to order.

If you are in London you must try a little picnic in one of their beautiful parks, even with just a coffee in hand. If you are not a park person I recommend you to go to Tate Modern and after a little exhibition sit in front of the museum, the view of the St Peter’s Cathedral and Millenium Bridge is just stunning.

Budva (Montenegro) is a really pretty and romantic city that everyone should see. The atmosphere at night is just relaxing and fun, the people are friendly and happy.

Tirana (Albany) is surprisingly well-developed since the rest of Albany is in a totally different state. When you arrive in Albany all you see are small houses that look like there is no one living there, and then you see a center like Tirana you stop to think how is even possible that I am in the same country.

This post was meant be published days ago but I had some problems with my computer so I couldn’t have publish this or anything for that matter any sooner. I hope this is the end of technical difficulties for some time!

My Excursion

So it has been over a week from when I got back from my excursion. The reason I did not do this post earlier is because I had some problems with the exports of photos.

For today I am just going to post a few pictures I took and under each one of the I will write something about them, just so you can get to know more details about my trips. I said for today because there could be more posts surrounding the same topic, but we’ll leave that for the future!!

img_9929

Skipping to our second day in Zakhyntos since the first one we just had a night out in the city, nothing special to take photos of.
This is a photo from the inside of the famous shipwreck on the beach Navagio. Just look at the colour of the sea. I have never seen something quite like this, even though I have been growing up by the sea my whole life. Fascinating!

img_0004

The island has a very indented coastline with a lot of coves, cliffs and caves, so you have a lot more to see than just the Shipwreck beach. On the way back from the beach we got to see these natural wonders up close and this photo I took is my favourite.

img_0016

After that we went to a great viewpoint from where you can see the famous beach from above. Stunning sight indeed. Close to the viewpoint we got to see some local products we could try everything they offered and then buy it if we like it. Let me just tell you that all I got there and saved for my family at home got eaten the first day I came back.

img_0018

For the last sight of the 2nd day we went to see the capital city of Zakhyntos also called Zakhyntos or Zante. The city is fairly new since it was ruined by an earthquake a few decades ago.

img_0068
On the 3rd day we left the island Zahkyntos and replaced our destination on the Peloponnese. After a quick ride on a ferry, we made it to Mycenae, a pretty important archaeological site in Greece. The ruins of the old city are telling a story about how people lived ages ago and the Lion gate, something this site is most famous for, is really impressive. When you climb the hill amongst the ruins you can see Greece and where it meats the sea, so it is worth it if nothing, for the view.

img_0097

Within the ruins there is a nice museum incorporated into the beautiful scenery. A lot of findings are stored there, including a replica of the notorious Agamemnon’s golden mask.
Not far away from the ruins and the museum there is the tomb of Atreus (father of Agamemnon) which is also a very popular site amongst the tourists.

img_0163

Then we visited Epidaurus with the asclepeion (antient healing center opened by Asclepius) and the theatre which you see in th photo. It is huge and very well-built and preserved. There we had a demonstration of how it was built like this on purpose, so you can hear what is going on in the middle, where the actors were, even if you are sitting on the top, far away from that.

img_0173

The last sight of the day was the Corinth canal which was built to shorten the voyage from one side to another since you do not have to circle around the Peloponnese. This canal actually transformed Peloponnese from a peninsula to an island.

img_0185

4th day and the first look on Athens with a panoramic ride by bus to the entrance to Acropolis. It was a really hot day so everyone was looking for some shade whilst we were waiting for our local guide to show us around. The funny thing was that we actually got warned by a security guy and almost thrown out because we where sitting on the stairs in the shad for too long.

img_0194

The Acropolis by itself is fascinating but when you combine it with the view it is so incredible to the point that it looks kind of unreal. Just take a look at the city of Athens with hundreds and hundreds of new building to the left of this old ancient building.

img_0198

The most famous thing on the Acropolis is of course the Pantheon. From what I understood it is on of the worst preserved structures n the Acropolis because it was once storehouse for a lot of explosives and it exploded during the bombarding. There is nothing like humans to ruin something the time still hasn’t got the chance to.

img_0233

A better look at the city of Athens from the Acropolis with me and my best friends posing like we are looking that way, you know the look in the distance. With the amazing Greek sky this is the best place to get amazing instagram photos, just look at my instagram magdalenam_dc (shameless self promo)!

img_0225

Then we spent the rest of the day looking for souvenirs and shopping in the centre of Athens, where we also stopped for a traditional greek lunch in a cute little restaurant and jumped to Starbucks right after since I love it, but only have the chance to go when I am travelling since they do not have Starbucks in Croatia. In the evening I went on a romantic walk through the city and later on had a great night out in a club with the rest.

img_0257

The 5th day we visited the city of Delphi, best known as the place where the priestess Pythia sat in a temple and recited the prophesies that where supposedly from the god Apollo. The whole old town was dug from under the houses built over the forgotten ancient town that served as a sanctuary.

img_0266

In Delphi we had the best local guide ever, Penny. She really made the tour interesting and entertaining by keeping it easy and funny. The history of almost every building built here is that the people of the town or polis who were victors in a war made a treasure-house with the explanation why it was built, therefore we know who defeated whom.

img_0264

After the tour and some resting time we went to a little greek tavern where we ate a lot of greek tradition food untill we couldn’t eat more. We soon left Delphi to arrive in Kalampaka, a beautiful little town where we stayed just one single night. That was the only night I didn’t go out with the most of my classmates, but I still had a pretty good night, maybe even better than if I went out.

img_0272

The 6th day we left the hotel to go see the Meteora Monasteries. From the photo you can probably get what it actually is. This is a Monastery on a huge hill and also this is a complex of more than 10 of these monasteries that are open to sight-seeing. It is really great to see what humans are actually capable of building to keep the solitude and isolation vibe.

img_0274

Soon after Meteora we left Greece and went to Ohrid, Macedonia. The weather drastically changed during the trip to Ohrid since we left the sunny and hot Greece and went to not so sunny and rainy Macedonia. But little rain didn’t stop us from shopping in the centre of Ohrid where the prices are scary low. After that we spent the last night in the hotel and of course our last going out of the trip.

img_0320
Our last day, 7th day was mostly spent in a bus. First stop for a lunch break and some free time was Tirana, Albany. Tirana was surprisingly very modern looking and we could even believe we where in the same country because just an hour before that we were driving by old wooden houses that looked like they have been abandoned.

img_0327

In a small restaurant somewhere in the centre of Tirana we had some lunch and relaxed knowing that we are going to spend half a day in the bus again. The food was pretty good and prices very reasonable.

img_0325

The centre of Tirana is really developed. Our guide told us the reason behind that is a huge amount of money that highly developed countries are investing in the capital city. This photo was taken from the bus and the last one I took in Albany, since after we left Tirana the true face of Albany was visible.

img_0330

Afer hours in the bus we got out in Budva to have some dinner and then a few hours for shopping. Budva is very busy at night since it really is a beautiful and romantic city. This stop was definitely my favourite one from the whole trip and I am already planning to get back next summer. This was our last stop and after romantic Budva we continued our journey to my hometown!

This is it! Everything about my trip in a brief summary. If you managed to read till the end and still enjoyed what you read, thank you so much!

Mood Board for August

page.jpg

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now,  the concept is m giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).
PS: I post mood board every last Tuesday of the month!
PPS: It’s Wednesday, I know.

Tomorrow, the 1st of September I am flying for Zakhyntios, Greece. I will be in Greece for 6 days than go on and visit Macedonia, Montenegro and Albany as well. Checking 4 new countries on the map!

My eye makeup has really turned into an easy job. Two different shades of pink and a line with my eyeliner.

I really think I will change my wardrobe up a bit for this autumn. I will shop whilst I am away and then again go on a shopping spree with the money that I bring back home (that is if I bring anything back).

Autumn is my favourite season of them all for so many reasons and autumn fashion is definitely one of them.

Thinking about getting a pair of light washed denim which I haven’t worn for maybe 2 or 3 years.

Currently obsessed with wearing my new Snob sunglasses. They are almost see through and a bit reflective (even though I hate reflective sunglasses, go figure).

I have been wearing my new MAC Velvet Teddy ever since I got it, maybe a month ago.

This summer I succeeded at reading books. More than 5 was my goal!

About the future

I have never been more scared about my future than now. I have never been more scared to make that drastic change which can only end in two directions. I was either about to succeed or crash and burned.

I always knew what kind of future I wanted, I had dreams of exact ways I wanted to accomplish what I want. But now it seems like those ways aren’t the ones I am willing to take.

I was never really afraid of the future and what it brings. Maybe because I didn’t have that much to lose as I do now, or I just realized what would loosing all of what I have meant. I am happier at this point of my life than I have ever been before. Even through the bad and worst days. If growing up means starting to fully value your family, friends, health and your partner I have to say that I think I get what it means to grow up.

Mood board for July

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).
PS: I post mood board every last Tuesday of the month! (usually, I am two days late this time)

I have been enjoying going to the beach and buying new bikinis this year.

I got a bit of a tan and I am very glad about that.

Something that really surprised me is how much more satisfied I am about my body, I still would not say I am proud about my body but I am definitely more comfortable with it than ever before, and that is saying a lot.

I am getting my bellybutton pierced on 4th of August. I will probably catch the whole experience on my snapchat which is magdalenam_dc if you are wondering.

Really, really wanting a summer hat.

Loving stripes and overalls as a match this summer. Also I have short overalls and I am looking to buy long ones so I can wear just a Calvin Klein top underneath.

Most of my summer clothing is black and white, so I am going shopping soon to change that. You will maybe get a haul (only a maybe!).

Cannot wait to sleep in my old bed again!

Messy thoughts

In what do trust?

Some people trust in God, some in their queen/king or whoever. Others trust in science, truth and facts. Some, on other hand, do not trust in anything or anyone. Were they born like that or were they burned enough times to know better than to trust? And were the people who trust in something born like that or is it just luck that they were able to live a good life or that they are more patient and prone to repeat the same thing expecting a better outcome.

As a guarded person, trust was always a very hard thing to me, which of course affected and still affects all my relationships. Personally, I find it very tough to trust in people, because they (or better said;  we) lie, cheat, make mistakes and usually look for something they (we) will benefit from.

Still, there is one big problem when it comes to not trusting. Is there love without trust, I wondered quite a lot. I came to a conclusion that love is a complicated emotion, it is a potion made of many different ingredients, trust is just one of them.

For me falling in love for the first time, really and fully was an adventure. It meant to let myself trust the person that I love, let myself be vulnerable and let myself be hurt. Now, imagine jumping over a huge hole that is so deep that you cannot see the end of it, nothing but just black void. Falling in love and trusting for me is like doing just that. Only blindfolded. Falling in love with you showed me how brave I really am and gave me an opportunity to learn you need to trust yourself first then give that trust to people around you that deserved it the most.

YOURS.

It’s late and my head is busy with just some white noise,
But still you succeed to be on my mind.

It’s early and my thoughts have not formed yet,
But still somehow I am thinking about you.

I don’t mistake your face in the crowd,
Because I know your walk and I know your sound.

I don’t need no more attention and affection
Then to be wrapped around in your arms.

Yours,
Today and
Always.

Easily romantic – Outfit Inspiration

Skirt: Urban Outfitters
Shirt: Mango
Shoes: Black Leather Converse
Bracelet: Local Shop

Another Outfit inspiration post, after a long pause. I really wanted to do a different look so that is why I waited for this long to post a new one. This is my idea of the easy and simple romantic look that is not only limited for night.

I wanted to look cute and some-what romantic, but I was going out in the early morning (or 10 am in summer 😉 ). My goal for this outfit was to dress it a bit down to make it look a bit more relaxed and appropriate for day time, because I didn’t want to be overdressed for a simple occasion and an early hour.

So, quite obviously the main aspect of this OOTD was this cute floral skirt I got from Urban Outfitters a long time ago. (More closeup pics of it HERE! in my London Haul). What is special about it is the black lace near the edge of the skirt which gives it an even bigger romantic detail and the quality of the material that is so soft and easy to wear in +30ºC weather.

And now we come to the most important part of the outfit, which makes it what it is – a simple day time romantic outfit. This shirt from Mango is a simple cut white T-shirt with a pocket on which it says: This is my favorite T-shirt. I fell in love with it last summer instantly and it still is one of my most worn pieces in summer. The shirt balances the skirt perfectly, making it simple and less smart because it adds some fun and flare to the whole shebang.

To finish it all off I wore my favourite black converse with a black bracelet which has an Ankh sign on it. That added to the relaxed theme, making this an ideal fun outfit to wear pretty much everywhere. It is a bit different and unexpected, but that is what fashion is, isn’t it?

That would be all from me today! If you want to check more of my day-to-day outfits and makeup looks be sure to follow me on my two instagram’s which you have on the right of your screen (or at the bottom if you are not using desktop version).

Mood board for June

page

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).
PS: I post mood board every last Tuesday of the month! (usually, I have been working all day every day so I haven’t done it on time, oops)

I am a big advocate for dark lips in summer, but my eye makeup simple and glittery.

These past few day I have been living in button ups, because I am working non stop.

My black leather converse became my go to shoes.

Most of my summer clothes are black and white, and I am in process of changing that.

In love with the crop top + overalls look for summer.

Cannot wait to wear my new bathing suit.

I have no idea how it is possible that I lost all of my necklaces, and the few I’ve got are all tangled up.

The best pj’s are a long shirt and panties ;).

Every summer

Today officially is the first day of summer on the Northern Hemisphere, so most of us bloggers decided to dedicate a blog post to that particular occasion.

I, myself, wanted to talk and make a list of things that happen every single summer and take a humoristic twist to the topic.

1.jpg

  1. You get hooked on that one specific song that become your summer 2016 (or an other year) song. By the end of the year, the songs becomes so boring and annoying that you cannot event understand why you liked it in the first place.
  2. Every summer your goal is to read more or to exercise more because you have more free time. In the end all you do in your free time is sleep, and occasionally some catching up with your friends because they want to be sure you are actually alive.
  3. This summer I am going to get so tan that people will think I went to a solarium, you say to yourself every year. The reality is, you get sunburnt and red everywhere. It is so painful, but you will at least get some tan – of course that does not turn out like that. The colour is not as nearly tan as it was red, and you still cannot go outside without everyone asking you why are you still so pale.
  4. You make a summer whishlist/to do list even though you can almost immediately see that being disappointing in the end.
  5. Now one for all make-up lovers. I am going to control the oiliness of my skin this year and not look like I went for a mile run after 15 minutes I left the house. I am going to prepare, buy every single product available and control it. Either you realized there is no way of controlling that or you keep your entire makeup bag as close as you can wherever you go.
  6. Saying you are going to practice a foreign language with foreigners, but end up just speaking English because you are too afraid to not sound perfect even thought the person talking to you in English probably doesn’t even speak English well at all.  So, you end up being a fool because you realize you know their language far better than they know English.
  7. You are trying to eat healthier. It sounds as a good if you think about all of the great fruits that grow in summer, but also fast foods are now opening on every corner (like there already wasn’t one in a 5 minute walking radius). Mission sabotaged!
  8. Thinking about getting a new hobby. That works. Sometimes. For about a week.
  9. Not leaving the work for the last few days, but doing it gradually whilst you are on vacation. Let’s be honest, no one is thinking about doing work while they have some time off work.
