Exam Anxiety – How to keep it down

I haven’t post a while, but I do have a good reason for that. I am currently in the stage of studying for my finals (and as of today I did half of my finals). That’s why I didn’t really have any new ideas or even time to do something on here, but I said to myself listen make the best of your situation. So I decided to write a post about how to keep down your anxiety during finals or any exam therefore. I hope this post will help you to deal with your anxiety the best you can.

EXAM ANXIETy.png

  • Breathe, breathe, breathe!

I cannot stress how important it is to breathe in and out calmly. Not only it helps you stay calm it also prevents hyperventilating. If you are walking to the place you are taking your test do this for most of your walk, if not then before you start writing whatever is in front of you (before you take a look at tasks). It really helps you gather all those positive thoughts you have and push all negative voices hiding in your head.

  • Always wake up with 30 minutes to spare.

Take your time getting ready, do everything you have to do calmly like you have nowhere to go. Also you never know, a panic attack could happen and you cannot be late. It is a good time to have little extra time.

  • Prepare you clothes and bag the night before.

You should do this ahead because you are calm at this stage and have less chance to forget something you need. Besides you can prepare that favourite shirt you love that brings you luck and comfort, since that cannot be a bad thing to have.

  • Make a relaxing song playlist.
This can also be good if you are walking to the place in combination with breathing exercises, but if you aren’t walking then you can listening to it whilst getting ready and doing your makeup. I find music very therapeutic in dealing with anxiety and stress, so much that when I had at least one panic attack a weak I couldn’t leave my house without headphones.

  • Stop and have a talk with yourself.

This can be done however you like, vocally our with your inner voice in your head. You can combine it with some other techniques or just literally sit down in your house before leaving and tell yourself you got this, you prepared for it and it is going to be alright. This way you also prevent that little mean voice in your head that is always saying how incompetent you are.

  • Don’t skip breakfast and a glass of water.
It doesn’t take a genius to tell that hunger plus dehydration plus anxiety equals catastrophe. So please take good care of yourself and eat at least a chocolate bar to give you some energy to fight off the stress.

  • Try not to go to bed too late.
I know a lot of people pull all nighters before exams and that could work for some people, but I do not recommend that to someone who has anxiety. It is hard enough, but with sleep deprivation it is even harder to stay calm. Try to get a few hours of sleep and maybe a nice, quick shower in the morning. It really works wonders.

That would be all I have to say folks. These things keep my anxiety down and help me to concentrate and give my best. If you have some of your tips please do write them down, so I and others can read them! Thank you for your attention once again.

Ready to be a tourist – Outfit inspiration

Shoes: Leather Converse
Choker: Bershka
Sunglasses: Snob
Bag: Local shop
Dress: HM

I love this look a lot. With this scenery behind me a really do look like a tourist, but this is actually my home town. While I was on my morning coffee that turned into a walk, I was feeling myself and I wanted to capture my outfit to do one of these posts again, I stumbled upon a totally new place in my own hometown. This outfit is one of those that you can literally wear anywhere you want with elevating it with some style pieces to make it more or less casual.

If you have already read some of my older Outfit Inspiration posts you have seen most of these items here featured, but not this dress. This is a new dress I bought maybe a month ago in HM for something affordable. It’s a denim dress and it’s made kind of like an overall dress (I also styled it like that before, which you can see on my instagram – link below), but now when it’s warmer and it’s almost summer I decided to wear it just as a plain dress. It really is something special, a simple show stopper.

Whenever I have enough free time to go out of my house and breathe in some fresh air, I take it. Usually, since it’s hot and I am busy, I go for a simple outfit. So, this black bag that I got half a year ago is a perfect one to match all of my outfits and kill 2 birds with one stone. Let me elaborate, I look well put together and I get ready crazy fast. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you the exact store where you can find this one, since it is a local shop here in my hometown, but I am sure you can find something very similar to this in HM or ASOS.

As I already mentioned in a few of my posts, I like to elevate simple articles of clothing with some noticeable accessorize. Here you can see my favourite Snob sunglasses that I love to death and my favourite choker that goes with everything. Snob sunglasses are probably the most special fashion thing I own. I cannot spend a day out with them without getting compliments, they are just so perfect. Reflective but not too much and they have the perfect frame for smaller heads. This choker has been on outfit inspiration post numerous times, so many that I cannot even tell you anything new about it. It’s from Bershka, it comes in the pack of 4 chokers and I got it for Christmas. Enough said!

Since I decided to go with denim and black details my black leather Converse where the only option for shoes that I can think off. I love to pair Converse and dresses, it’s a trend that I hope never goes out of fashion. These are two and a half years old, but really with the laces cleaned they look super new. With them I kind of rounded the whole look that is simple but a bit edgy and different.

All in all I like how I feel when I am wearing this and that is the single most important thing with fashion, it is most certainly supposed to make you feel great. That would be all from me today. I hope you enjoyed the post. Thank you joining me today and reading my post.

For more day-to-day looks, makeup and other be sure to follow me on my two instagrams (links on the right side and/or under this). Also for previews of my posts and notices about when something is out! Thank you for reading once again, I’ll see you in my next post and I for sure hope you are going to be there again!!

Mood board for June

page

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).
PS: I post mood board every last Tuesday of the month! (usually, I have been working all day every day so I haven’t done it on time, oops)

I am a big advocate for dark lips in summer, but my eye makeup simple and glittery.

These past few day I have been living in button ups, because I am working non stop.

My black leather converse became my go to shoes.

Most of my summer clothes are black and white, and I am in process of changing that.

In love with the crop top + overalls look for summer.

Cannot wait to wear my new bathing suit.

I have no idea how it is possible that I lost all of my necklaces, and the few I’ve got are all tangled up.

The best pj’s are a long shirt and panties ;).

Every summer

Today officially is the first day of summer on the Northern Hemisphere, so most of us bloggers decided to dedicate a blog post to that particular occasion.

I, myself, wanted to talk and make a list of things that happen every single summer and take a humoristic twist to the topic.

1.jpg

  1. You get hooked on that one specific song that become your summer 2016 (or an other year) song. By the end of the year, the songs becomes so boring and annoying that you cannot event understand why you liked it in the first place.
  2. Every summer your goal is to read more or to exercise more because you have more free time. In the end all you do in your free time is sleep, and occasionally some catching up with your friends because they want to be sure you are actually alive.
  3. This summer I am going to get so tan that people will think I went to a solarium, you say to yourself every year. The reality is, you get sunburnt and red everywhere. It is so painful, but you will at least get some tan – of course that does not turn out like that. The colour is not as nearly tan as it was red, and you still cannot go outside without everyone asking you why are you still so pale.
  4. You make a summer whishlist/to do list even though you can almost immediately see that being disappointing in the end.
  5. Now one for all make-up lovers. I am going to control the oiliness of my skin this year and not look like I went for a mile run after 15 minutes I left the house. I am going to prepare, buy every single product available and control it. Either you realized there is no way of controlling that or you keep your entire makeup bag as close as you can wherever you go.
  6. Saying you are going to practice a foreign language with foreigners, but end up just speaking English because you are too afraid to not sound perfect even thought the person talking to you in English probably doesn’t even speak English well at all.  So, you end up being a fool because you realize you know their language far better than they know English.
  7. You are trying to eat healthier. It sounds as a good if you think about all of the great fruits that grow in summer, but also fast foods are now opening on every corner (like there already wasn’t one in a 5 minute walking radius). Mission sabotaged!
  8. Thinking about getting a new hobby. That works. Sometimes. For about a week.
  9. Not leaving the work for the last few days, but doing it gradually whilst you are on vacation. Let’s be honest, no one is thinking about doing work while they have some time off work.

What it takes

If you are a writer (any kind; if you do it as a hobby or as some kind of a paid job), you might stop every now and then to ask yourself what it takes to be a good writer.

Sometimes I am torn between writing what I want and what I think readers will want to read, as I believe every writer is. Staying true to yourself, writing about stuff you want and keeping your readers happy and wanting more is already such a hard combo. But is that all it takes to be a good writer, I had to wonder?

I don’t necessarily think there is a right formula or that anyone can be interested in all I or someone else writes. But I guess there is a certain thing that makes some writers more compelling to the masses and what makes them have that x-factor with which they stand out in the sea of wannabe famous writers.

Of course that some topics are more… let’s say noticeable, like sex, when compared to others. Sex sells, everyone knows that saying and we have a lot of real examples of that even in writers (50 Shades of Grey being the obvious one), still writing about sex is not part of the good writer formula. Firstly, because good writers are not automatically those who are being read more.

And then, on the other hand, having the skill of writing is also not the biggest quality it takes to be a good writer. Because let’s be honest, something can be well written but boring to read or have no real purpose.

So, to conclude this weird thing-of-a-post, maybe I should list some things that can help get you (and me) closer to the title of a good writer.

A good writer needs his or hers (or its/theirs, we are pro all genders here) own voice, that cannot be shut down easily and that can be recognised effortlessly.
A good writer should write about what he/she/it/they want but that topic should either be at least a bit popular or advertise in some manner on pages (or whatever) that are specific to that topic, so the people you are writing to/about/for can actually see it.
A good writer can write about controversial topics (that is welcomed actually), but only in a way where they are not attacking someone else and where they have their own opinion and an explanation that is not hurting anyone in a major way.
A good writer writes when inspiration strikes and knows how to break the horrible writer’s block.
A good writer interacts with the public and readers.
A good writer knows why he/she/it/they are writing.
A good writer lays in all of us.
