Pull up a seat (Florence, Italy) – Week 40

I just stumbled upon this photo challenge and I immediately decided to take part in it. The thing is that a seat can be represented by many things. A bench, a coffee shop, a group gathering that sits on the stairs, a child sitting in his mother’s lap. All of these things have meanings because someone gives them a purpose or more than that – a life! Really astonishing theme to photograph. Here are some of my representations taken in the last few weeks.

Am I back again?

Well, I haven’t written here for years. And honestly I am no longer sure I got this, but I think right now, in this stage of my life it is best to give it a go once more. If anyone from my old crew is still reading, hi nice tu see ya again! And for all the newbies welcome, I am rusty but still hope you will like me (my content that is).

What stage of life you could be thinking? Well, where to start?
a) I am currently in the proccess of adapting, renovating and designing my future home (from distance – I’ll explain it later on)
b) I am getting married in less than 2 years, so there’s that
and c) here in the now world and time I am in Italy on the Erasmus programme for 5 months.

Which of those things seem the most interesting to you? You could be nice and leave a comment or I will choose instead of you.
I was thinking about making a whole separate blog site for my Italian experience, but then I really felt nostalgic about those old WordPress blog days.

Yes, I have rambled wayyyyy to long, but the point is – I will try to be more active (like that is hard after years of non-activity) and pick up from where we left.

Untill my next post you can check my About page or any of my old blog posts.
ps. If you look hard enough, there are some pretty embarrasing posts!

Thank you and see you!

Munich trip in photos – Christmas on Small Town Blogger

As the month of December is coming up, so are the various advent seasons in cities all around Europe. Since I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to go to Germany, I guess I can bring you some of the Christmas feelings from Munich in photos.

Pep shopping centre. Well, first of all, this was the first time I saw a Christmas tree made up solely from ornaments, so that was cool. And also, Primark! Yes, did some damage there…

English Garden with the Chinese tower was the first Christmas market kind of thing we visited. Took a lot of photos there, here are just a few that give the vibe of the place, I especially loved the old carousel, therefore my dramatic looking photo. Also, we (my boyfriend and I) ate chocolate covered grapes, weird but nice combo.

Marienplatz is the central square of Munich, so the centre od their Christmas market and the heart of turist sightseeing tours. All of that comes to form a very crowded place where taking a photo is very difficult, but when you are determined to make your boyriend suffer until at least one good photo is made you come up with some usable photage. Thank you 😉

Odeonsplatz is another big square in Munich, just a few minutes walking away from Marienplatz, but surely a lot less crowded, heaven for taking photos. Also, it is close to a Starbucks where we got a winter special in their cute Christmas cups.

Well, going to an all you can eat Asian restaurant isn’t really a Christmasy and/or a bavarian thing to do, but it certainly is fitting after a day of endless walks over the town and into several public transport choices Munich has to offer. Sushi and seafood certainly are my comfort food, whereas my boyfriend was more set on “real” meat.

Yes, that’s all. A quick where have I been update thourgh photos. Next Christmas post coming up Thursday or Friday, until then check out my insta for more of my content.

Christmas on Small Town Blogger

Not going to apologize about being absent, I was actually more focused on my Instagram page so it is not like I haven’t been doing anything. But it comes a time when my fingertips miss the feeling of tapping onto a keyboard, so I have come back to do my annual Christmas season posts. I actually have no idea what am I going to write about, except a travel post about my weekend in Munich where I experienced their kind of advent, a possible haul from Munich and a review of advent in Zagreb (as I did last year). If you have any suggestions be free to send them!

The Munich travel post will be out this weekend, so either tomorrow or the day after, so stay tuned!

My summer outfits

I just wanted to make a short post about what outfit pieces I have been loving lately and to show you where they are from, so this is kind of a small try-on haul if you think about it. This is going to be super short but I hope you like it and feel at least a bit inspired. 🙂

If you have been looking at my insta (@smalltownblogger) you probably already saw this outfit. These pants are crazy awesome and I got them at Pull&Bear on sale during the after Christmas sales, but I am sure there are a lot of similar pairs in high street places like Zara, H&M, etc. The shirt is new, a gift from my boyfriend (therefore the heart on the shoulder, I know  🤣), this one is from H&M but I think it sold out. Shoes are the Puma suede platforms I have been loving for over I year now, as well as my trusty Snob sunglasses.

Okay, so these are two outfits but the central piece is the same so I decided to put them together. It is a two piece set of a crop top and skirt from Missguided that I actually thrifted (and that was my first thrifting ever!!), I can’t believe I got them both for like 7€ maybe even less. First outfit version is more casual with my leather Converse and my jean jacket from Mango that I got maybe half a year ago, something like that. The second outfit was my special date outfit and I completed it by a kimono from Yamamay (that was actually also thrifted) and some platform lace-up shoes from Mass.

The last outfit is probably the simplest and personally the cutest. This is my new floral summer dress from Zara I got a few months ago and couldn’t wait to wear it. I completed the look with my new red sunglasses I got in Muller and my new black mules which are unfortunately not in the picture.

That would be all for today folks, I hope you like this short little post/haul/I don’t know what it is. Thank you for reading!

Mental illness and mental health

Mental illness, or also known as a mental disorder is a topic that has been getting more media coverage in the last decade, but when it comes to the solution and general knowledge the “invisible” problem of all mental illnesses we did not really come that far. The words that best describe the circumstances of why it is important to dispute about mental illness and mental health are the words from Director-General of WHO: “Mental health has been hidden behind a curtain of stigma and discrimination for too long. It is time to bring it out into the open.”  (2003:3)  This essay will, therefore, try to address the problem and break the stigma that surrounds mental illness by trying to present importance of mental health to our everyday lives.

The biggest misunderstandings and stigma about mental illness are due to the fact that it is not a visible sickness, a person can have depression, anxiety etc. and on the first look seem healthy and well. That is, why when dealing with mental illnesses, we have to be extra cautious to actually recognize signs of particular disorders. The importance of this lays in prevention and a lot of it has to do with suicide prevention, especially if we are talking about depression. Suicide prevention sometimes has more to do with people surrounding the person than experts in the psychology field since quite often patients do not ask for help directly and this is where the education about mental illnesses is crucial and to know about it means to talk about it, without stigma.

In this day and age, it seems that mental health comes as a low priority on everyone’s lists, but to lead a healthy life the concept of mental health needs to be taken into the equation as one of the key factors. The World Health Organization defined mental health as:  “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. ” (2003:7) They also stress the importance of levelling the scales between physical and mental scale, something that the world is not thinking about enough. Mental health affects the whole society, not only those who have it impaired and that is why awareness about this situation is needed and some actions should be taken immediately.

On the topic of prevention and education, we can also talk about preventing mental illnesses altogether. For example, training teachers and parents to recognize potential problems has proven to be effective in prevention (WHO, 2003). Depression is one of the most common mental disorders, affecting around 340 million people all over the world (WHO, 2004) and solely for that reason educating about positive thinking and improving problem-solving skills can better a lot of lives, as well as save them.

In conclusion, mental illness is a universal problem that has been surrounded by stigma and not treated as a proper illness, when compared to physical illnesses. Mental health is a key factor in leading a healthy life and promoting it needs to be a measure taken by public institutions like schools which will lead to breaking the stigma of mental illness.

Coffee shops in Zagreb you should visit

I have been living in Zagreb for about half a year now. The thing with being in the biggest and capital city of a country is that you literally have all sorts of things to visit. I mean you can go every single day in a different coffee shop and not visit them all. So today I am going to refer to some of the special and different cafes you should stop by if you are ever in Zagreb. This list will probably be larger by time so there is a chance of doing a second edition of this post if the interest shows up to be good. Let us start with the list!

First, let’s mention one of the trendiest cafes right now. This is Greenery Procaffe shop that has one of the best interiors I have ever seen, so definitely check their Instagram out! (I’ll just mention they have swings as stools.) But the most interesting thing is, as you see in the photos above, they can print anything you want on your coffee. Here we have one of their done prints and the other is an actual photo of my boyfriend and me. This place is right now the only one that offers this option in Croatia so it is always full of people who want to get their coffee. And what is also great, the prices are not too expensive which was very surprising to me.

IMG_20180323_174717_894.jpg

This is Potter coffee shop. As you can see the interior is amazing, but not to be deceived by the name it is probably Harry Potter inspired but not a lot of things actually give a real homage to the series. Nonetheless, it is a place to go see and I feel so guilty that I didn’t get more photos to show you the atmosphere of this place, and it definitely helps that they have some amazing hot chocolates (I drank a peanut butter one).

This is Croatia’s very first (and right now the only one) cat caffe. It really is an attraction, but if you ask me an attraction to visit once because trying to drink coffee and having a nice conversation while attempting to keep the cats off the drink is too intense for me. Their menu offers so many different and special drinks, like this glitter coffee with cream and all the names are cat related. It is a cat lovers heaven, that’s for sure, but only if you have enough patience.

That would be all for now. Thank you for your patience and interest, I hope you liked the post. The list of amazing coffee shops in Zagreb is definitely bigger but I decided to start with only a few so I can have a possibility to make similar posts in the future.

Munich travel diary

As promised, I am publishing photos from my Munich travel. This will be a short post with mostly photos and where they were taken.

The first and most amazing sight we (my boyfriend and I) went to see is the Nymphenburg castle. Amazing architectural accomplishments and magnificent exterior are definitely what makes this castle worth seeing. We also had lunch in their Palmhaus (translated Palmtreehouse) and ate an amazing burger called Nymphenburger, in honor of the place. The castle is surrounded by lakes which are full of swans and ducks, so naturally, this is a great place to get photos.

Next, we went shopping in the city center known as Marienplatz. It is shops on shops everywhere you look and if you are a shopaholic you almost forget about everything else that place has to offer. Amazing cathedral, and small interesting sites worth photographing like these lions and that beautiful golden-yellow door. Of course, I took the chance of going to Starbucks since there isn’t one in Croatia. I drank the strawberry and cream cappuccino and they actually got my name right, my boyfriend, on the other hand, drank a chamomile tea, probably the best chamomile tea we both ever tried. Well done Starbucks!!

Lastly, I also took a chance to try the notorious new Kinder Bueno ice cream. It really doesn’t remind of anything like the candy with whom it shares the name but it’s still good. Just good, so don’t kill each other for it!!

All in all my trip was lovely and interesting. I got sick on my last day and I lost my ID on the first day (yes, I am that stupid, but they found it a few days after I got back to Croatia with a pass from Croatian embassy), but nonetheless, I had a great time because I was in great company!!

Thank you for reading, be sure to check my two Instagrams to see more from my travels!

Boots: Mass

Long time no see. I haven’t posted in months and really I don’t have a good explanation for myself.  This post has been in the making for almost a month, but it seems like I could bring myself upon publishing it for some reason. So, this is going to be my second post this year, and consequently the second outfit inspiration of the week. I am planning to publish my Munich trip post in a span of a week, but will see about that won’t’ we. Without further digression here are my outfit details.

First, of course, we have to give props to my amazing coat from Mango that I really got a lot of use these past few months, but I also have to mention that this particular day was the last day that a coat could be worn since after that day the weather got so cold that there was no way you can survive in a coat. I really love the fact it is grey and not black because, as you can see in the photos, it breaks up the color scheme perfectly.

I cannot hide how obsessed I am with my over the knee boots from Mass. I honestly don’t wear them as often as I would like it, but when I do my outfit is next level good. They are black and heeled so they can bring every outfit up, on a dressier side, especially with a dress or a skirt, like here.

The skirt is from H&M, I got it this summer, but I have been wearing it all year, through all seasons, so definitely money well spent. The zipper in front has been a huge trend last season and judging by outfits on Instagram that trend will keep on growing this season, which is fine by me. The thing with these types of skirts is that you can wear them equally with tight and flowy shirts without it looking too much, so you can basically combine it with almost all shirts from your wardrobe and it will look good.

The shirt is also from H&M, it is actually a cropped shirt so it looks like I had to tuck the excess material in, which is something you can do but here that was unnecessary. I personally don’t really own a lot of shirts in color, especially red ones, so this shirt really stands out both in my wardrobe and this outfit.

My bag was featured in plenty of my past outfit inspiration posts, so if you are a regular reader you already know all about it. It is a simple black crossbody bag with some studs. What is new about it is a keychain that I attached to it. The keychain was a birthday gift from my boyfriend, and it is a fussy bordeaux heart.

That will be all for today, the photos were taken in Zagreb’s Zoo by my boyfriend. We spent the whole day there as a cute date before my birthday. Needless to say, we had a lot of fun and were happy like a couple of children the whole time.

For more day-to-day looks, makeup and other be sure to follow me on Instagram (links on the right side and/or under this). Also for previews of my posts and notices about when something is out! Thank you for reading once again, I’ll see you in my next post and I for sure hope you are going to be there again!!

Tights: New Yorker
Shirt: Stradivarius
Coat: Mango
Boots: Zara

First outfit post of the year. We are starting pretty much the same as we did last year, so nothing crazy and new. Definitely a different style and location, that’s true, so keep on reading if you want to get a closer look at what I am wearing.

I cannot ever say enough about this amazing coat I got in Mango, it’s so simple but stylish and it brings every single outfit together. I never thought my petite body could look good when wearing a long coat but this piece proved me wrong. A great investment definitely!

Again my classic ripped jeans with some glittery tights underneath so I am warm. Just love how this looks, I mean every interesting pair of tights work, but these ones are my favorite because they are a detail that elevates the whole look to be a bit more put together. And let me tell you, I found them in my wardrobe because I wore them maybe once a few years ago and now I am wearing them almost every single day. Sometimes hoarding clothes pays out.

My new boots from Zara are another addition to my ever-growing collection of boots, but these are the ones that I probably wear the most since they are black and not heeled. The studs make them a bit grungy which I like. In addition to that grungy little moment, I added some black stud earrings.

Last, but definitely not the least, my new sweater from Stradivarius which is probably the most loved item in my closet right now. It is so soft that you feel like you are wearing a blanket and all you want to do is to rub your face on it. The color matches my neutral palette when it comes to clothing so I have many combinations to wear it with.

That will be all for now. These beautiful photos were taken by my amazing boyfriend on our walk around the Blue Lake. Had a great time and got a lot of great photos, there is no better than that!

Must see – Zagreb Advent 2017

Again, for the third year in a row, Zagreb has been chosen as the best advent place and given that I actually live here for most of the time in next few years I thought it was only right to check some places out and present you what the advent is all about.
I haven’t really been out every single day to see everything but some high points will be shown in both photographs and my commentary. I hope you like this post and consider checking Zagreb’s advent this year (for what is even left of it) or perhaps next year since it can only get better from here!

One of the most beautiful attractions (and one of the most photographed as well) is the Marićev prolaz that is decorated in such a way to look absolutely magical. It’s actually a passway (that’s what prolaz means in Croatian) that is decorated just in this time of the year (and correct me if I am wrong you who know better, I think this is the first year they did something like this for advent). The tiny lights on those branches make up such a romantic and wonderful place that the passway is usually packed with people so it is hard to take a nice photo. So if you want to do so, I advise you to go a bit earlier in the morning or later at night when most of the tourist groups aren’t around.

This is the famous park Zrinjevac in the center of Zagreb. Switching on the lights, that you can see in these photos, for the first time always signifies the beginning of Advent and it is an event a lot of people come to see. The park is usually, by itself, beautiful but for Advent, at night it becomes a place that you must visit just to see the magic of millions of lights around it.

Ice park on the King Tomislav Square is one of the most visited sites every advent. It really is magical and romantic to ice skate with the scenery surrounding you, especially at night when the lights go on. I have been there to skate 3 times and I wish I could have been every single day. The tickets aren’t that pricey but they do go away quickly for the closest session on weekends.

The part of the advent that happens in Upper Town Zagreb is also amazing. There you have some of the most photographed sites of the whole advent. Also in close proximity there 3 places you have to visit; Caffe de Matoš with cute benches and little cafes with photograph so well,  Stross which offers you a lot of gourmet choices and fun places to take photos as Rudolph, Santa and Grinch  and my favourite Klovićevi dvori (Klović palace) where you can eat about anything and see the whole city from up there while listening to good live concerts.

In the Strossmayer park which is between King Tomislav square and Zrinjevac there is also a lot of food place choices and some of the extra sightings like the HBO gift shop where you can buy literally anything related to GOT, LOTR or Harry Potter and you can also drink and eat stuff that is related to Harry Potter series. Next to that, you have a cute looking little circus where your youngest ones can have fun.

That will be all for this posts! I wish you all the best in the new year that is in front of us, and I hope you spent your holidays well.

Winter fairytale – Outfit inspiration

IMG_20171216_225351.jpg

IMG_20171216_225354.jpg

Boots: Le Edo, over the knee
Jeans: Zara Woman
Bag: Local store
Coat: Mango
Shirt: Zara

Long time no post. But I cannot miss posting at least one blog post for a Christmas series I usually do every year. This year you will get a winter lookbook (this post and maybe one more before New Year’s Eve, and resume of the advent in Zagreb. Let us start with this post right away!
First of all, I have to highlight my new over the knee boots I purchased this Black Friday. They were 50% off and just what I was looking for; classic, black and with a bit chunkier heel so they are as comfortable as they can be. I am in love with them, they can spice up absolutely every outfit and are worth every penny. To see them for how they actually look and how I style them be sure to check out my Instagram or at this link HERE!

Now for my classic Zara ripped black jeans that were featured a couple of times in my previous Outfit Inspiration posts. Since it is a bit colder now I opted for wearing some shiny tights under them so they can pop out at times. A classic with a twist ;)! Also, something that has been featured numerous time on this blog is my black bag with studs, so to check that out look at some previous outfits (linked below)

This soft green shirt is also from Zara and I purchased them on pre-fall sale for a ridiculously small amount of money. The color pops in every outfit and it also has rips on both elbows as well as a big pocket in front. And on top of that it is also slightly cropped, so it definitely one weird and unusual cool shirt you have to have!

And possibly the best item on these photos saved for last. My magnificent grey long coat from Mango. Changing a climate from cozy to harsh winters pushed me to buy new outerwear to survive the degrees under the zero in Zagreb. This coat has been my savior and I am thankful for it every day. It is so classic and stylish, it goes with everything and it keeps me worm. What more can a girl ask?

That will be all from me for today. Want to know more about the location of photos up, be sure to wait for my Must see locations in Zagreb – Advent 2017 coming out in a week or so. Happy holidays folks!

If the shoe fits…

I indeed didn’t post anything in a week or two, but not because I lacked time rather because I haven’t had a proper inspiration to write something down.

Today I am here on a more business note, but still going to write as usual. Namely, I got a chance to introduce you to a shoe company called FSJ. FSJ is a shoe store known for handmade and all-size shoes which is a pretty unique feature for a shoe company. The site is incredibly easy to use, there are icons to help you find what you exactly want in seconds. The site will be linked here! They offer fast shipping as well (I am sure you will all like that very much).

I took upon myself to show you some of my favourite choices from some of one section of FSJ, so let’s get right into it.

I moved to Zagreb without any heels by my hand so finding something with a killer heel was my goal ever since I came here. That’s why today we are going to look at some pretty awesome stilettos boots and FSJ has many options that can satisfy any girl’s needs. Here are my picks…

All of these shoes and more you can find on FSJ’s website linked before but here are some shortcut links if you are interested in what I presented you here with.

Big city girl

Yes, now I am officially a small town blogger living in a big city (my new instagram bio if you haven’t caught that yet @smalltownblogger ). I always thought this would be a great change in my life, everything will be different but I have found myself in the same routine however lacking a few important people, their physical presence at least. This is the first post I am writing after the big move and I still didn’t become one of those people sitting in a coffee shop working on their laptop but it seems I soon will because my dorm internet isn’t the fastest. On the topic of my dorm I don’t have a clue should I post something on that note and if you would find it helpful since school year has already started. We will see how writing this blog will progress whilst I am here, so no promises for now.

I still need to get used to some parts of this new lifestyle but all of this wasn’t as a shock for my organism as I thought it would be, maybe because I was preparing myself for months. Of course it has just been a couple of days, a lot can change in a week and even more in a month. I have a lot more time for myself and a lot more time to think, which can be both bad and good. But what I love here is that fall is already in its’ full power and I absolutely love fall as people who have been with this blog for a while already know. So excited for wearing boots and jumpers this year since that is going to be pretty much all I will be wearing.

Meeting new people isn’t that fun because I always feel very awkward during the introducing and generally talking to someone I don’t know that well at all, however I am managing it somehow. The acute loneliness and homesickness hasn’t yet started and I think that is because my brain hasn’t really processed fully how I am not going to see some people for months,  but I do feel it hiding somewhere in the corner waiting to hit me with its’ full strength. It is very curious how long my posts are here because I am pretty much treating this post as a journal entry but who cares, right? 😀  I guess this is kind of an update post that you might not find that interesting because it is all about me and my life, but I will definitely post different posts soon. Actually I already prepared a post on my 2 day vacation in Split with my boyfriend. Bad at hellos and goodbyes

Since I really dived into some personal shit in my last few posts, I thought this one should be no exception. This is going to give you a short overview of how my mind works when it comes to closeness and relationships of any sort. I have no clue to why would you want to read about that but maybe you are weirder than me, who knows…

Forming a more intimate relationships includes actually getting to know someone and to do that you need to make yourself at least a bit vulnerable. Vulnerability to me was always closely connected to trust, because for me there is no bigger vulnerability than to trust someone fully and unconditionally. I know some people wear their hearts on their sleeves, but I do not wear mine anywhere nearly visible. Not to get too deep into psychological analysis of why is that so, just have in mind my cautiousness when it comes to letting people in my life. Socially awkward was something I used to use to describe myself, but now I am staying away from that expression for numerous reasons. Nowadays, however, I would describe myself as emotionally cautious and that is my personal diagnosis to why I am bad at hellos.

Being bad at hellos might seem as not such a big deal, but when you actually stop and think about how much you miss out on because you are too afraid to let people in it becomes clear how limiting that way of life is. It is not just sad, it is also very unhealthy and unnatural path through life since humans are social beings and we in someway feed on human interaction. What I hate about is specifically is the impression I leave on people. I seem cold and not interested to most of them and of course they do not get the chance to change their minds with getting to know me because they usually do not want to get to know me any further. But still, I believe, anyone who actually knows me has learned to overcome my awkwardness and to see who I truly am.

Goodbye’s. Do not get me started on them. They are hard on their own and I make them even harder trying to make things easier and better. I always over-complicate things by trying to do them in a simpler kind of way and after all these year I should really know better but I simply cannot help myself. As I already said I do seem a bit cold to people on a first note, but the people closest to me say that I am overly emotional and too sensitive which I hate to even write down since it makes me feel weak. I hide that emotional part of me under a facade and because of that my initial reactions tend to be very wrong. I am a pusher, I push people away, I ignore them until they walk away from me, I make them walk away. Only the strongest ones and ones who care about me the most realize what I am doing and stay. Yep, I am self-destructive that way.

Even though I act though and cool, I am a very scared individual. The fear of being totally alone in this world is eating me constantly. And what do I do with that fear? I kind of try to make it true. I imagine stories in my head to get angry and make a fight happen. I ask a person a question and answer myself with the worst answer I can think of. I get angry when someone is angry at me. And the worst thing is I do that half knowingly. I say goodbye’s when they are not needed because I am afraid I will have a goodbye when it is going to be the hardest for me, not even giving something a chance at being easy-going and last hell of a long time. I am so afraid of a real goodbye that I was living my life at half the capacity all this time. This is something that got into my head just recently, maybe a few months ago. I was shown how to look at things differently, how to take things slow and fast at the same time. I was thought how to not think about a goodbye, but rather how to think about a crystal future full of amazing opportunities. I was shown how to trust the people who deserve it.

I guess that will be all from me for today. Honestly I really like the new road I have been walking on for the past month or so and I would really like to know if you appreciate it too. It is rough and real, really personal and intimate. Feedback is always welcome, so be sure to leave a comment down bellow 😀 .

What’s my type?

Recently I came to think how people sometimes end up doing something or being with someone who they could swear they would. Life is full of surprises and usually we are the ones that can surprise ourselves the most.

So on that note, today I wanted to talk about types. Do people really have a type when it comes to romantic and sexual attraction? I know it is not just me that falls for someone who is out of normal characteristics that my type is made of. And now the second time around that situation really made me stop and question do I really have a type or any preference at all when it comes to dating someone, since I never actually fell for my type. It’s a curious thing isn’t it. I never liked blue eyes but my last 2 relationships (out of total 3 in my life) involved a partner that has blue eyes. Yes, yes, I know they are just eyes but that is a characteristic that in no way corresponds with my type, in fact it is the pure opposite.

I have no idea when the cliche of liking someone for who they are became true, that cliche is something we all always wanted to believe but never really did. You get what I mean? The whole WHO THEY ARE IS IMPORTANT became bullshit ever since the entire dating world changed. You usually meet your ‘partner’ in a bar or a club, or you just swipe right 😂, how the hell could you know who that person is? Everything sped up and getting into relationships wasn’t an exception either. But maybe we are getting back to how things were before all this fast craziness. Maybe looks really got replaced by conversations and real interests. I guess when you seek a deeper connection with someone your type isn’t important or even it is the last thing you think about.

A few weeks ago I heard an interesting theory that the person in our life is never the wrong person for us, only we can be the wrong version of ourselves and the more I thought about it the more I started to agree with that view. People in our life come and go all the time, and not to think they are in our lives for some reason that is specific and unique to us and who we as people are is crazy. In this view the definition of a type has blurred lines and it is basically irrelevant. Recent events in my life showed me that sometimes you get exactly what you need even thought you might never came to think you need that in the first place.

That would be it for today and this post. Thank you for reading this post and I hope you’ll see me in my next one whenever that will be!

Sometimes we get bored off all those beautiful moments we have in our life often, but this sunset could not be ignored by anyone.

My Sex and the City

Every once in a while I get this insane idea to write a Carrie Bradshaw like post. Even though I am kind of a lifestyle blogger, relationships and sex were never my forte, actually, those topics were delicately avoided in my posts over last few years. Since I am starting a process of getting out of my comfort zone and trying new things for myself I thought this post could be a good first step on that road when it comes to my career in writing.

Carrie always puts her and her friend’s experiences in her posts so I am going to try to broadly do just that. We already talked about how this summer turned out to have a bit more serious note by me terminating a relationship to be in a better place of mind and we also talked about the importance of healthy selfishness when it comes to your own happiness and mental health in general. Now we are going to talk about making yourself happy in other ways.

Since I have terminated that relationship a few things happened along the way that brought me to the door of opening a new relationship fairly soon to ending of the first one. Of course, me being a crazy over-thinker and all-blames-on-me person, I got a bit puzzled by what my next move should be. I was at a huge crossroad that was problematic for numerous reasons. I knew how it would look and I didn’t want it to look like I left one person for another because I really didn’t. Also, I didn’t want to lose a chance for something that could be so good and so perfect because of a tricky timing that was only tricky because I felt like I was being promiscuous for something that just isn’t like that. What I was afraid of was that other people would think that I am cold and quite simply a bitch. And somewhere along the line of me over thinking that little voice popped into my mind.

Is this making you happy?  – An easy question isn’t it.
Yes! – Even easier answer.
Then why are you feeling guilty for wanting to be happy? Isn’t everybody’s aspiration in life to BE HAPPY?! At that point, I decided to let the moment decide for me and not to limit myself to anything. If it’s bound to happen it will! And it did. It really was a moment. A pure moment in which I thought to myself Yeah, this is it, this is right…  For what it takes, I do feel a little guilty still, but not for making the decisions that I made because I still stand by them.

On a slightly different note now. This summer is a really fast summer. A lot of things happened in a short period of time. I can see my friends trying to find themselves, exploring what life has to offer and being open to new experiences just as I am. And nothing makes me happier than that. We are truly growing up and having fun doing so, finally. Mistakes were made, but who cares really? Rules are to be broken and mistakes are to be made. We are here to find and create ourselves, and to have fun by fucking up ( something that I and my friends were reminded recently).

Nothing should be taken too seriously especially when we talk about sex and relationships in your early days. Nobody really expects you to have your life together, so you shouldn’t either. It is not a crime to enjoy yourself, however, you might want (of course if you aren’t hurting others in a way that is legally considered a crime 😆 ). And also it’s summer, what is better than being young in summer? A lot of things, but it’s still too awesome of an opportunity not to take it while you still can!

Let’s have a chat about being selfish

Maybe you read this tittle and thought to yourself what the hell is she talking about. Or maybe a single thought hasn’t popped up in your mind, but either way you are reading my newest post in which I am mostly going to talk about myself and some changes I have been facing last few months. It really is weird seeing yourself change as it happens right in front of your eyes.

If you knew me you would know that I am always trying to help others and most of the time at my own expense. I like helping, don’t get me wrong but it takes so much energy from me that it makes sense why I am a hard introvert that needs to charge batteries by spending some quality time alone. Also, there are so many people who take advantage on me being myself and just let me do all of their work for them because they know I will. For past month or so, I started to see myself the toll this way of living put on me and slowly I began tearing from inside without anyone else noticing. What really got me was that the people closest to me didn’t notice my suggestive cry for help because they were so into their own problems which made mine invisible.

At that point I realized I had too many toxic relations with people who always seem to run short when it comes to me but I always put them before me. For my own good and for theirs I started a painful process of removing all of the toxicity and finally after so many years of my life I began walking a new path. A path led by healthy selfishness, I began pushing myself to put myself on a higher priority list if I cannot put myself first. After a short period of time I felt the difference this made in my life. I felt healthier, happier and more relaxed just by spending more time incorporating helping myself into my own life.

I don’t know if anyone will relate to this, but I never really wrote posts to be relatable did I? I wrote this to leave a piece of my soul here and to hopefully make people think or help them, so I sincerely hope you enjoyed this quick read I presented you today.

I’ve got some explaining to do…

It has been 2 months since my last post, I don’t think it has ever been that long without a post since I started this blog and I just got a message that today is the 3rd anniversary of me creating it. Well, I really do have some explaining to do but I am not going to go into great details.

I feel like no matter how long have you been with me or with my blog I owe an explanation, even though I do not really think anyone really cares. Past 2 months have really been full with so much stress and loosing and finding my spirit on and on. I cannot explain things without context and I cannot give context because it is about my personal life (a bit too personal). Now let’s talk about stuff I can talk about.

First stressor I have encountered was me trying to enroll into a college. It really was a rocky road, but now when I look back at it there was no place for panicking or even being stressed about but stress is in my blood. Since I decided to stay in Croatia to continue my education I had no idea what to go for because I thought there was no way I could do what I wanted here. But as it turns out I can, and even though I wasn’t really happy with the college I got in at first now I know it is actually just the thing I wanted for as long as I can remember. This fall I am an official student of anthropology and Italian studies.

Other news, my work is both stressful and stress relieving in a way.  I also kind of lost an important person in my life, maybe lost isn’t a good description of the situation but will go with it. The good thing is that I am trying to get out of it all stronger. I am learning to put myself first or at least on a bit more important place than I am now. I am hopelessly trying to save myself and it might look like I am running away from everything I am dealing with the devil in me the best way I know and I can. This whole situation left me more anxious than ever and I am having, again, at least one panic attack a week and my head is so messed up that I cannot even decide what to eat and especially write something worth reading.

That is all I have to say right now. I have no idea when the next post will be but I will think about doing some photography posts to start up again. Goodbye, I’ll hopefully see you in my next post!

Exam Anxiety – How to keep it down

I haven’t post a while, but I do have a good reason for that. I am currently in the stage of studying for my finals (and as of today I did half of my finals). That’s why I didn’t really have any new ideas or even time to do something on here, but I said to myself listen make the best of your situation. So I decided to write a post about how to keep down your anxiety during finals or any exam therefore. I hope this post will help you to deal with your anxiety the best you can.

EXAM ANXIETy.png

  • Breathe, breathe, breathe!

I cannot stress how important it is to breathe in and out calmly. Not only it helps you stay calm it also prevents hyperventilating. If you are walking to the place you are taking your test do this for most of your walk, if not then before you start writing whatever is in front of you (before you take a look at tasks). It really helps you gather all those positive thoughts you have and push all negative voices hiding in your head.

  • Always wake up with 30 minutes to spare.

Take your time getting ready, do everything you have to do calmly like you have nowhere to go. Also you never know, a panic attack could happen and you cannot be late. It is a good time to have little extra time.

  • Prepare you clothes and bag the night before.

You should do this ahead because you are calm at this stage and have less chance to forget something you need. Besides you can prepare that favourite shirt you love that brings you luck and comfort, since that cannot be a bad thing to have.

  • Make a relaxing song playlist.
This can also be good if you are walking to the place in combination with breathing exercises, but if you aren’t walking then you can listening to it whilst getting ready and doing your makeup. I find music very therapeutic in dealing with anxiety and stress, so much that when I had at least one panic attack a weak I couldn’t leave my house without headphones.

  • Stop and have a talk with yourself.

This can be done however you like, vocally our with your inner voice in your head. You can combine it with some other techniques or just literally sit down in your house before leaving and tell yourself you got this, you prepared for it and it is going to be alright. This way you also prevent that little mean voice in your head that is always saying how incompetent you are.

  • Don’t skip breakfast and a glass of water.
It doesn’t take a genius to tell that hunger plus dehydration plus anxiety equals catastrophe. So please take good care of yourself and eat at least a chocolate bar to give you some energy to fight off the stress.

  • Try not to go to bed too late.
I know a lot of people pull all nighters before exams and that could work for some people, but I do not recommend that to someone who has anxiety. It is hard enough, but with sleep deprivation it is even harder to stay calm. Try to get a few hours of sleep and maybe a nice, quick shower in the morning. It really works wonders.

That would be all I have to say folks. These things keep my anxiety down and help me to concentrate and give my best. If you have some of your tips please do write them down, so I and others can read them! Thank you for your attention once again.

Ready to be a tourist – Outfit inspiration

Shoes: Leather Converse
Choker: Bershka
Sunglasses: Snob
Bag: Local shop
Dress: HM

I love this look a lot. With this scenery behind me a really do look like a tourist, but this is actually my home town. While I was on my morning coffee that turned into a walk, I was feeling myself and I wanted to capture my outfit to do one of these posts again, I stumbled upon a totally new place in my own hometown. This outfit is one of those that you can literally wear anywhere you want with elevating it with some style pieces to make it more or less casual.

If you have already read some of my older Outfit Inspiration posts you have seen most of these items here featured, but not this dress. This is a new dress I bought maybe a month ago in HM for something affordable. It’s a denim dress and it’s made kind of like an overall dress (I also styled it like that before, which you can see on my instagram – link below), but now when it’s warmer and it’s almost summer I decided to wear it just as a plain dress. It really is something special, a simple show stopper.

Whenever I have enough free time to go out of my house and breathe in some fresh air, I take it. Usually, since it’s hot and I am busy, I go for a simple outfit. So, this black bag that I got half a year ago is a perfect one to match all of my outfits and kill 2 birds with one stone. Let me elaborate, I look well put together and I get ready crazy fast. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you the exact store where you can find this one, since it is a local shop here in my hometown, but I am sure you can find something very similar to this in HM or ASOS.

As I already mentioned in a few of my posts, I like to elevate simple articles of clothing with some noticeable accessorize. Here you can see my favourite Snob sunglasses that I love to death and my favourite choker that goes with everything. Snob sunglasses are probably the most special fashion thing I own. I cannot spend a day out with them without getting compliments, they are just so perfect. Reflective but not too much and they have the perfect frame for smaller heads. This choker has been on outfit inspiration post numerous times, so many that I cannot even tell you anything new about it. It’s from Bershka, it comes in the pack of 4 chokers and I got it for Christmas. Enough said!

Since I decided to go with denim and black details my black leather Converse where the only option for shoes that I can think off. I love to pair Converse and dresses, it’s a trend that I hope never goes out of fashion. These are two and a half years old, but really with the laces cleaned they look super new. With them I kind of rounded the whole look that is simple but a bit edgy and different.

All in all I like how I feel when I am wearing this and that is the single most important thing with fashion, it is most certainly supposed to make you feel great. That would be all from me today. I hope you enjoyed the post. Thank you joining me today and reading my post.

For more day-to-day looks, makeup and other be sure to follow me on my two instagrams (links on the right side and/or under this). Also for previews of my posts and notices about when something is out! Thank you for reading once again, I’ll see you in my next post and I for sure hope you are going to be there again!!

Mood board for May

pages.jpg

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover). The mood board of the month is going live on the last week of that month!

I have to admit that it’s getting pretty hard to write new stuff on these, but I guess I am pulling it of still (kind of). I’m pretty sure that I have repeated some things a few times, but who cares, right?

This month I have been really loving my nails and nail polish, which is a rare case if you know me.

I cannot way for the day when I can sleep in all day and not have to do anything for the whole day.

On the similar note I am going on a short vacation (if you can even call it that) in the end of June. I have to be in Zagreb for my entrance exam 1st of July so I am going a few days before to kind of distress after my final exams (a total of 5).

Oh, and also as soon as I get back from Zagreb I am working, so I really need to get some rest there.

I save old roses. I have an old bouquet on my desk and I don’t even care how it looks, it’s cute to me.

I cannot wait to go to the beach again, when I find the time to do so.

Excited to bring more colours in my wardrobe, currently I am loving pink more than ever before.

About my prom

img_5694-1k.jpgimg_5675img_5685

Welcome to my prom post! This is just going to be a quick overview of the event.

So my prom was 13.05.2017 (Saturday) and I am just now recovering from lack of sleep and the amount of dancing caused by it. As you can see we had it in a beautiful location, one of the best hotels in our town. The day was perfect and sunny, we couldn’t have picked a better day to celebrate.

Now as for the fashion. My dress is dark blue with see-through and crystal details, both in front and back. I loved the idea of bare back and a dress that just follows my silhouette. This dress if from La Perla and I absolutely adore it to death! My shoes, that you cannot really see in any of these photos, are plain silver 10 cm heels from a brand called Sweet Shoes and I got them in a local store, but they could probably be found online as well. Earrings are white gold with swarovski crystals as well as my ring. My nail polish is a metallic one that I found literally the day before in a drugstore for something cheap. It’s essence and I have to tell you it really lasts a long time, but you do need 3 layers to get this colour. I also had one of those backless, strapless bras that you just stick on and pull up and I believe it did a good job, of course there where a lot of sweating but it lasted! I also had a gliterry silver bag that I bought but I have no idea what brand it is, but I am sure there is a million bags just like this one anywhere you go.

That’s pretty much it that I have to say, I hope you liked this short post about my prom. I had a blast, I stayed up all night and came home in the morning. Sleep deprivation is still happening, but it was definitely worth it!

Thank you for reading.

Here we go, another favourites post. If you follow my blog content closely you would know that I skipped March favourites, and that is because I didn’t really have a lot of new things to show. So here is the 3rd favourites post of the year. I hope you’ll enjoy!

img_5343

Farmasi All in One CC Cream

Farmasi is a brand that I have just recently heard of and, since I ordered a few of their things. One of those things was this CC cream and I absolutely fell in love with it. It is a bit darker, but it still looks good on me and very natural. It lasts about 5/6 hours until I get oily which is long for my skin. I also love the slight scent it has, as long as the fact that I can use it without compact powder without looking like a complete mess! Also it was pretty inexpensive, especially since it was on sale.

Maybelline Colorshow 60 seconds nail polish in 20 Blush Berry and 59 Marina Chic

I was really impressed by these nail polishes from Maybelline, you get such a great quality for a small amount of money. There is so many colours to choose from, I got this dark blue one for myself and a week after that I got the berry one as a gift. The colours are so amazing, I am for sure going to where one of them for my prom this Saturday. Also in all of these photos I am wearing the 20. I have never seen before that I can wear the same nail polish, after two coats, for a week and have minimal chipping that isn’t even noticeable. Best thing ever!

img_5339

Maybelline Fit me foundation

Since I run out of the Farmasi CC cream I had to buy a new foundation in my local drugstore. I went in to get the affinitone one, but my shade was sold out. That is why I picked this foundation that I previously considered to dry-looking after I tried the tester on my skin. And let me tell you it is definitely dry, but not too dry that it looks awful, it is matt and smooth. What I need to mention is that if you have dry skin or dry patches this foundation is not for you! My nose is a bit dryer that the rest of my skin and I can notice a difference, but since it is not completely dry it still looks fine. The price is same as the affinitone is, so I thought that it was worth trying.

img_5338

Essence Eyebrow designer in Blonde

I have no idea how I managed to get to this point and not mention this product. This eyebrow pencil is a product that is a constant in my makeup routine, and I have been repurchasing it for more than 2 years. This is the lightest shade that they offer and it works perfectly with my skin tone and hair colour. it is so inexpensive but works perfectly. If they discontinue this one I have no idea what product will I have to buy next. Also it’s bigger when you buy it (I use it a lot 😉 ).

img_5348

Flormar Lip Balm in Black Mulberry

I got this lip balm when I was on my excursion  in September, in Athens. I just walked in the first store I saw was opened and picked this one up. What draw me to this balm was the colour and the scent which match perfectly. I love wearing pigmented lip balms like this and Maybelline’s Baby Lips electro. This is the perfect thing to always bring with you wherever you go because it keeps your lips moisturized and it has SPF 15!

img_5345

Farmasi Botanics Shampoo with Nettle

I have very problematic hair. Even though it is fairly short it gets oily too fast and I have dandruff as well. This shampoo actually makes a difference when it comes to my hair. I can usually last 2 days without washing my hair and this gives me an extra day without washing it. As soon as your hair dries you see how soft and shiny your hair is, and the scent that this shampoo leaves is absolutely heavenly, I never knew something like nettle can be good for your hair, but when my hairdresser recommended both nettle and this particular shampoo I had to get it straight away and I haven’t regretted!

img_5346

Snob Milano sunglasses

I couldn’t wait for better weather so I can start wearing these babies again. I got them last year somewhere in the middle of summer. These are reflective but not too much, since I really hate that. They are a small frame since they are italian, which works perfectly with my small head. I can honestly say that I have never seen a pair of sunglasses that look better on me than these. I fell like I get so many compliments every single time I wear them or post them on instagram. Definitely money well spent!

img_5340

Rimmel Lasting finish compact powder

I decided to break routine a little and try a new compact powder. I picked this Rimmel one and I do not really have to say a lot about it honestly. It works fine and it lasts a long time in combination with my new foundation, and that is the reason why it is in my April favourites. But I also think I won’t be repurchasing it again because I think my Catrice compact powder work just as good for less amount of money and also you get a bit more product. I got this on 50% off sale so it was approximately the same price as the Catrice one.

img_5336 Schaebens Peel-off Mask

Recently Muller opened in my home town and I went to buy something new there to try it out. I saw this mask on the shelf and since I haven’t ever tried a peel off mask I decided to give it a try, and also it doesn’t cost a lot of money (maybe 1 euro). After trying it for the first time I fell in love with it. It leaves your skin clean and mattiefied instantly. Your complexion looks so even and nice,  I have never seen a mask do something like that. This small packaging has enough for two uses. The only thing that I find disappointing is that this packaging is all they have, there isn’t a full size product, at least in my town.

That  would be it for this months favourites. I hope you have enjoyed and that you are going to come back for more next month! Please do be so kind and leave a couple of your favourites from April in the comments below.

Mood board for April

pagek.jpg

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover). The mood board of the month is going live on the last Monday of that month! Or in this case a week later (sorry for that)!

First of all I changed my instagram username to smalltownblogger, so go and check that out!

I am thinking about colouring my hair into purple or pink, something pastel like.

There is no one crazier about dogs than me. I cannot see one without stopping and petting them or waving at them (I know, who does that 🙂 ).

I drink coffee probably 5-7 times a week. And by coffee I mean Nescafe.

I really want new prescription glasses, something a bit more out there than my plain black D&G’s.

Currently I am really into pastel colours in clothing! I seriously need to go spring shopping soon.

I have my mother’s ring, that my father bought her for one year dating anniversary, on my left hand for years now. I haven’t taken it off since I first put it on, and I don’t plan on it any time soon!

I love makeup, that’s not anything new. But most of all I love doing my eyes, I can spend a whole day just doing that and of course I never leave home without eye makeup. I consider it my trademark.

Basic – Outfit Inspiration

Sunglasses: Snob
Choker: Bershka
Shirt: Zara TRF
Jeans: Zara

Boots: HM

New outfit post. This one is perfect for the beginning of spring, it’s so easy and simple to assemble, but even though it is basic it looks so good that you can wear it pretty much anywhere. Today I went on a short walk and in a small cafe on the beach, but I would also wear this shopping or even to school. But no more digression, we will start with the items on the pictures right away.

My favourite sunglasses that I wear everywhere, when I got the chance to. They are from Snob Milano and I got them last summer in a store in my home town that sells their stuff. I usually hate reflective sunglasses but these are different, they are not so reflective, they do not look like a mirror like most of the reflective sunglasses do. Also the frame looks so good on me because it is made tiny which is perfect for my small face.

My choker is from Bershka and it is part of a pack of 5 chokers that I got for Christmas. This one is the one I wear the most since it goes with anything. In this case I want to make this shirt less sporty and casual, but still not overdue it. I think I managed to do that, don’t you think? I already talk about it in my previous posts, so I really do not have anything else to say about it.

On that topic my boots are the Chelsea boots from HM that I got a year and a half ago in Rome, I talked too much about them so I won’t say anything more about them. It is more than unnecessary. They are also featured in my last Outfit Inspiration that I did a few weeks ago that you can check out by clicking HERE!

This shirt is fairly new, I got it maybe two months ago for something absurdly cheap in Zara. It was one of the pieces that were on sale in the beginning of the year, and also the only thing I picked up from Zara on that sale. It is so basic but it can be styled into a pretty stylish outfit. It is light and perfect for spring. Also, I really love stripes and pockets on shirts, who knows why :).

My first real ripped jeans! I wanted to see what the hype was about and I previously got the fishnet tights to go under them so it was obvious that I should get me some. And I am crazy about them now. These are from Zara also, but they weren’t on sale and I got them more recently  than the shirt.

That’s all folks! This was a quick post and I believe a quick read. I hope you enjoyed it and that you will be coming for more posts  like these since I really like to write them. Thank you for reading and thank you for your attention.

For more day-to-day looks, makeup and other be sure to follow me on my two instagrams (links on the right side and/or under this). Also for previews of my posts and notices about when something is out! Thank you for reading once again, I’ll see you in my next post and I for sure hope you are going to be there again!!

13 Reasons Why – why it is so special

I am sure a lot of you heard about this title recently, since Netflix dropped the season some time ago. It was based on a book written a couple of years ago and it was first meant to be made into a movie, but thank God it is a series because it has so much going on that I don’t think anyone can catch up in two hours.

What I wanted to talk to you about today is why this show is so special and why you should watch it if you didn’t already. I am not going to mention any spoilers so you are safe to read further.

This show is ab13-reasons-why_0.jpgout a girl named Hannah Baker who was bullied and misunderstood in her high-school. She killed herself and the story actually starts and ends with her suicide. Before she killed herself she made 13 taped explaining the reasons why she killed herself, people who caused her to do so. We are actually following Clay, Hannah’s coworker and let’s say friend, getting the tapes and listening to them one by one and revealing us what has happened in Hannah’s life since she moved to this high-school until her death.  That is all the basic information you need to get the just of this show, now let’s start with what I meant to write today.

So 13 Reasons Why. A show like nothing I have ever seen before. Not only it shows suicide, but also rape, bullying, lying, sexuality and most of all the lost life of a teenager. All topics mentioned in various shows and movies but never like this. It is so raw and real that by watching it you are so aware that this is so real, this is something that is happening right now to someone you don’t know, and something that has happened to someone you know but you have no idea about it.
What I was personally most surprised about was the scene from the last episode. The scene we all knew was going to happen, even you who just have read the short overview I have written above. The scene that shows how Hannah actually killed herself. And I mean really shows it. I have never seen something like that shown anywhere, not in dramas, not in shows with medical or criminal background not anywhere. The act of slitting your wrists sound so scary to most of us, but seeing this scene on my screen I was terrified, I was moved, I was shaken to my core. Seeing Hannah’s obvious pain that she considered the last and ultimate option that she has to take woke me up like a cold shower. I understand why this was made. Any suicidal person who has watched the show and especially that scene would be so shaken that he or she would reconsider everything he or she thought about, including me.
Also a thing about this show that is great is showing how much human interaction and contact is important. And how much people actually affect one another on a everyday basis. Those 13 people Hannah mentions as her reasons, they are not all aware they did something so awful to this girl, most of them don’t even think about their actions once they do them. No body cares, until she is dead. No body but Clay.
Show also to me represents what a lack of communication can do. People often just assume what the other person is thinking, or are too scared to say what they want, resulting in a lot of important things being left unsaid. A lot of problems in everyday life are caused by lack of communication and compassion. This show also presents how people have become number as a result of having technology and hiding behind it. I think that’s the reasons the author choose tapes as a media through which Hannah speaks to people who have hurt her, which is genius when you stop and think about it.
Something very important that was highlighted was that even if you did not say no it doesn’t mean that it isn’t rape, it certainly doesn’t mean that you want it. Consent is a real thing people! Especially when a person isn’t able to say no, or when a person is trying to get away without saying no. Just because you want something or you feel entitled to something it doesn’t mean it is yours to take. This is a real issue, and I guess it isn’t talked about enough since a lot of people have no idea what consent means. It also talks about teenagers pressuring their partners about having sex and the whole slut shaming thing that happens in every highs school around the world. It shows how different an untrue rumour about a girl is treated with an abominable amount of slut shaming, but when it comes to a guy raping it is covered up.
All in all it is an interesting show to watch, but also a really hard one. I really recommend it to everyone and I already talked all my friends into watching it. I haven’t yet heard or read anything negative about the show, but most importantly I couldn’t find something negative about it myself. If you have already watched it or you just started watching it leave your opinion about the show in the comments below!
Thank you for reading and for your attention (this was probably one of my longest post ever), I hope I have at least presented you something interesting to read if nothing else. If I made you want to see this show right away please let me know in the comments as well and mention why exactly!

Social equality?

A society that treats everyone the same, as equals. Is that just a utopia or a real possibility that could happen in the future of human kind?

I think everyone can agree that we live in a cruel world where justice rarely happens. Our world is homophobic and racist, women are treated as less and paid less than men. Now, especially considering recent events with terrorist attacks, a question has risen in our minds. What is necessary for an equal society?
Pessimistic views on this question are common, so there are a lot of people who do not believe in a possibility of a better world. The idea of something so ideal and perfect is too hard to comprehend to some, resulting in people not even trying to change anything that is wrong with this world. Also, a lot of people who watched someone being treated unfairly or even put down for an unjust reason, have lost their belief in all humanity and in all good that this world has to offer. Some also do not want to fight for the better world because they think nothing is going to change because nothing has changed for centuries, which is a dangerously wrong opinion.

On the other hand ones that do believe in such a possibility try to change the world everyday. People like this have seen how revolutions, rebellions and protest have changed the world through history, from racial segregation in South Africa and USA, to women rights in UK, USA, France and all over Europe. They believe that if enough people stand up together for the same cause they will change history, they will make this world a better place.  That is why today there are a lot of protest like Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ+ parades all over the world. Not to forget the importance of celebrities that stand proud as feminists, LGBTQ+ members or supporters, who in that way send a message of peace and equality.

For the conclusion, there will always be people who fight for what they believe in, here for a better world. In the same way, there will always be people who do not fight for that since they do not believe in it. The important thing is that people who believe in such a possibility have changed and still are changing the world step by step.

Overall a good look – Outfit inspiration

Jeans: HM Overalls
Bag: Local shop
Shirt:
Bershka
Jacket: Zara
Boots:
HM

It’s been a while since I posted my last Outfit Inspiration post, so I thought that I should do one as the first post of the month. Here you see my go to pieces for spring that I literally wear everywhere, from school to coffee and even, with the right shoes, when I go out.

First let’s talk about my overalls that a got a while ago, at the end of the summer, in HM. I already owned short black overalls when I stumbled upon these ones and I had to get them. I wore them hundred times since I bought them and they look so cool and unique no matter how you style them. I usually wear a turtleneck under it, like I did here.

This burgundy turtleneck is from Bershka and I got it when I was in Zagreb in November when I was there for the Justin Bieber concert. I love wearing burgundy and I bought this shirt because it was the exact colour of the boots I got an hour before in Shoebox (that I featured in my last favourites). What can I say, it really was meant to be and also when I am not wearing all black I am wearing black with burgundy :).

This jacket is from Zara and it has a peplum end. I am not really going to talk more about it since I already featured this piece in one of my older Outfit Inspiration posts that you can see here. And about this bag, it is a black messenger bag with little dark silver studs in the corners. It is a perfect size and I received it as a gift from my mother at the beginning of the year.

Next and last I will tell you more about these black boots. They are black leather Chelsea boots I got a year and half ago while I was in Rome. They were really affordable and trendy then so I had to buy them. They really go with everything and they are really great to slip on in a hurry because you do not have to worry about laces, heals or even do they look good with your outfit – they always do!

That’s it for today’s post. I would like to thank you for your attention and I hope you liked the way you spent your last few minutes reading my piece. Also I would like to take this time to thank my amazing amateur photographer who always listens to my vision and takes the camera in hands when I order that way. I couldn’t do this without you!

For more day-to-day looks, makeup and other be sure to follow me on my two instagrams (links on the right side and/or under this). Also for previews of my posts and notices about when something is out! Thank you for reading once again, I’ll see you in my next post and I for sure hope you are going to be there again!!

Mood board for March

pagen.jpg

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover). The mood board of the month is going live on the last Monday of that month!

I am so tired all the time. I don’t remember the time where I was more tired than this, all I want to do is to stay in bed forever and on top of that I have a lot of trouble with falling asleep.

I love rose, it is a perfect mix between red and white wine and it reminds me of summer romantic nights.

In a hunt for a longer coat or any longer outerwear but with my height an article of clothing like that is so hard to find.

Warmer days have started and I am slowly switching to cold coffee.

Also searching for a perfect lace brallette.

Since I bought new ripped jeans I have been wearing them with my fishnet tights and velvet burgundy boots.

I only own two black overalls, one short one for the summer and a longer one for rest of the year. I am thinking of buying a denim one also to break the pattern.

I haven’t had a nice bath with Lush products in a long time.

Writing and fighting

As a writer, or whatever you want to call someone like me, I found sitting down and writing a post a very special thing. I love writing even if I know I am going to write a page and delete it. I love to press these letters even if I don’t have any idea what to write about. The feeling of inspiration striking and the gathering of your thought as you write is probably one of the best feelings ever.

I don’t know if everyone here understands that these sit down and just write post, I exclusively write for myself and if you enjoy it that is a plus, but you liking it isn’t a necessary goal of mine. I am not trying to be that entertaining or amusing. I am quite literally having a conversation with myself in written form and choose to publish it for you I miss you a littleto read if that is something you want. Of course I am pleased when people like and comment my posts, and when my words get read, don’t take it the wrong way.

I also think that this way you get quality content and you get to understand something about the way I think, it rather is an intimate thing to share. At the end of the day I am picking my own post topics and I should be the one who is proud of this text you are reading.

Today, therefore, I decided to write about being young and “stupid”, how the media and grown ups perceive the future generations. I got inspiration for this just yesterday when I remembered the word that were once said to me, not so long ago.

Well, someone older said to me and one of my friends: You young people are just rebels without a right cause, you want everything to be the way you think it should be and the other way is wrong. What was said isn’t that bad or far away from the truth when you take it out of the context, but let me show you why was this sentence said to make you understand what I am trying to talk about today.

We were discussing gender roles, feminism and homophobia with someone twice our age who is also a female (important for the rest of the text, not trying to imply anything else). These words were said after me and my friend stated how women are not payed the same, they are discriminated and have a harder time to gain the deserved respect. They  were also said on the topic of gay marriage as something that should be normal and a constitutional right.

If you have been following my work for some time you know how passionate I am about those topics. I am opinionated and vocal, but understanding in a way that I do not try to make someone understand me or what I am standing for. However I deserve and ask for some respect, and I am not going to have it any other way. Of course the “other side” does the complete opposite, this time trying to convince me that there is nothing to do there, it is how it’s been for years and how it clearly should be. That is why I am standing against every single word said in that opening sentence. That is why I am talking about this today.

That person tried to tell me to stop fighting for something I believe in, for something that so many other great people do. She told me to give up. She told me to “grow up”. But I will say this right away, if giving up on humanity,on equality and fighting for what’s good means growing up, I wish never to grow up. If it means to be smaller, to forget, to shut up and watch all of these things happening without doing anything, I am here forward promising that I won’t grow up. Never, in that way.

What about pain?

Does the best art come from the worst pain?

If my mind is clearer than tell me,
why do these letters feel heavier to write?

I am thinking more rationally, aren’t I?
Then why to I despise everything I write?

If love describes my life,
why does fear reek from my art?

Tell me why do I feel incompetent
without my pain, my crazy?

How can it define me,
how can it be this visible?

Am I me without pain?

Am I an artist, a writer?
Without pain!

February favourites

So, last favourites did pretty well and I decided to continue this little series for as long as I have something new to show you. This months favourites are pretty much what I got for my birthday post, since most of the products I got like that. But, without any more rambling let’s start.

img_3870-1 Real Techniques Limited Edition Multitask Set

One of the birthday gifts I got, and fell in love with immediately. This set comes with 3 amazing brushes and a case that can be used as a brush holder. I know it isn’t that cheap or affordable but you can use it for everything. I use the multitask cheek brush for my foundation and concealer, the multitask face brush for my compact powder and multitask eye brush for my everyday eye makeup look. What I love about them is that they come with instructions for what do you use which and also Sam & Nick, have tutorials for every set out there.  So helpful!

img_3879-1

Maybelline Master Strobing Stick Highlighter in 100

My friend clearly know that I love makeup and they got me this amazing highlighter from Maybelline. I don’t use it everyday but I do use it weekly. I love the shimmer I get from it and how easy it is to apply it. Just dab it a few times above your cheekbone and blend it quickly, it’s that easy! The shine look very natural and pretty.

img_3880-1

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub

The first contact with Lush Lip Scrubs I had, was with the Christmas edition one and I love it. So, when I used it up, I decided to get a new one and picked this one at their store. It works the same as the previous one but has a completely different taste. This one is the most unique one out of their lip scrub range because it is both  sweet and salty. The taste is definitely something you have to get use to, but I clearly love it since it is in my favourites. I use it every time I am wearing a lipstick, especially before darker matt ones.

img_3886

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in 365

I think I already talked about my love for the colour burgundy, so it comes at no surprise that one of my favourite lipsticks ever is this one from Maybelline called Plum Passion.I love how it looks on, it moisturizes and lasts for a long time. Dark purple lipstick are usually what I go for especially in cold months. I wrote about my favourite dark purple lipstick in an old blog post where this one is featured, so if you are interested in that click here!

img_3882-1Catrice Multi Matt Brush in 010

I have been using this blush for about a year now. Switching from the first shade in 010 to the slightly darker 020 one, all year around as seasons pass by. I love it so much, but I have to say for colder months I like the this lighter version a bit better on my fair skin tone. It gives you a bit of colour with just one quick apply. The multiple colours give you various choices, I usually blend all of them together in circular motion with an angled brush and simply apply it on my cheeks. The plus is the affordable price and it being matt since my skin is oily after just a few hours. No touch ups needed.
img_3881-1

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I feel like I have been using this since it just came out in my country. I tried a lot more cleansers and micellar water from different brands and Garnier also but nothing really works as good as this one so I always get back to it. It is really great for sensitive skin and it doesn’t leave my skin red after cleaning my face as a lot of other do. It last about 3+ months, since I do use makeup almost every day. It is quit affordable especially comparing it with other drugstore products.

img_3883-1

CV Makeup Wipes

I discovered these makeup wipes this summer and every time I have a chance on repurchasing them I do. Makeup wipes are so great for those lazy nights when you just do not one to deal with your everyday makeup cleansers. I like them a lot better than the Nivea ones that can often be really harsh on my skin and leave me red and even itchy. This brand is, I think, exclusive for Muller store, so if you have one near definitely go there and find yourself these wipes. There are more types and I use these which are for younger than 25. They have a great scent and leave my skin looking fresh and clean. Also the price is amazing, almost half price of the Nivea ones.

img_3894

Shoebox Burgundy Boots

Also the showcase of me loving burgundy. And the only velvet thing I have in my house, and the only exception to my do not wear velvet rule. Look at them, they are so cute and pretty. I got them in November while I was in Zagreb and they were on an insane sale, so I could justify the 10th pair of boots I would now own. I just started wearing them intensely and I have been getting a lot of compliments since they are kind of the first thing you see when I walk in a room (have in mind that I am usually only wearing all black 🙂 ). A great investment and contribute to my wardrobe.

That will be it for my February favourites. It was the shortest month and I still had something to show you, we will see if I will do the same for the following one. I like to see what are your favourite things from last month and maybe even take up on trying the things you mention! Thank you for you attention.

Mood board for February

page

I have been doing mood boards for over a year now, the concept is me giving some information about what I did that month that is connected with this photos (that I rebloged onto my Tumblr, if you want to check it out it’s girlonfire-youtube-lover).
The mood board of the month is going live on the last Monday of that month!

So first thing I have to say is that I am 18! My birthday was on 18th of February and you can read a bit about it in my previous post here.

I developed a habit to talk about my makeup look of the month in every mood board for the past few months, so I am going to tell you again. I got a new highlighter and have been loving it, so that with a shimmer pink eye-shadow and eyeliner is pretty much all I do.

Lip colours I usually use are either dark purple/burgundy or like nude mac lipsticks. No in between really, especially in winter and fall.

I miss having that urge to dance all the time that I have lost in my depression period, a few years ago.

I love flowers and bouquets, roses mostly. And I got a few of them for my birthday 🙂 !

Since I have been seeing the fishnet trend everywhere lately, I also decided to get me some. I hope you will get an Outfit Inspiration post this spring with this trend.

Cereal has been more common in my diet this month, and that made me remember how much I actually miss eating cereal since I went through a phase of not eating it for a great while.

I really want to do some portrait photography with a real camera and all. I hope that this particular wish will come true soon.

In general

Saturday morning. 7 AM. Great storm and rain everywhere. Just as it was on that same date 18 years ago when I was born. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

The weather made a full circle in those 18 years to welcome me to something that is legally looked at as adulthood. Even though I woke up feeling just as I do every morning, tired and sleepy 😉 , nature made its best effort to remind me of this event that happens only once in your lifetime, oppose to 40th birthday which you can have multiple times 😀 !

I was blessed to be born in an amazing family that spoils me to death with both, attention and presents. I am blessed to have made wonderful friends along the way who are my strength and ultimate support. And last, but certainly not the least, I was too blessed by meeting my partner in life and crime this young and to have that kind of love this early.

No matter the circumstances that made my life hard and at some times unbearably painful I am grateful for and I appreciate everything that happened to me because those things have brought me to this moment. They brought me these people in my life and prepared me for everything that will happen next.

In past few years I have grown so much as a person. I became brave enough to live my true self and met my partner who helped me to make ease with my appearance and finally like the way I look. I earned my confidence, I learned to love and to be loved. I got calmer, my anxiety attacks are not so common anymore. I am funnier, and I have no idea how that happened.  I changed my style to meet how I am feeling inside. A lot more happened, a lot more growth, a lot more happiness.

I guess that you learn how to be happy and how to feel the happiness surrounding you as the years go by. You learn to appreciate everything that has happened and not to fear the things that are going to happen. I don’t have a magic recipe, no one does. But I know one thing, with the right people everything is easier.

This post is a thank you to all those people who make my life easier, better, funnier, prettier. To the people who have brought me back the childlike will to live and to explore all the things this life has to offer, to be happy for what is going to happen and for what has already happened. Thank you from the bottom of my small heart, I love you!
